How to prepare

Hey guys.
Although I have roughly 2 years till the UMAT (year 10, he he), I want to start preparation now. However, I do not want to start spending on any prep courses or papers (section zero, medentry etc) as of yet.

I realise that Section 2 is heavily focused on analysing words, and hence I would assume reading books and newspapers would be a good place start. On the other hand, Sections 1 is to do with interpreting data (which I kinda like) and Section 3 is non-verbal reasoning, which is said to be the easiest to improve on.

Can anyone help me out, and perhaps point me in the right direction(s)?

Thanks

Why? ???

I guess if you want, practice speed reading.

Because or else I get off-track and tend to waste time on AN, hehe.

Year 10 is the last year of your life (unless you take a gap year) when you can really waste time with no consequences lol, enjoy it.

That's the thing... I don't have anything to waste time on (apart from AN).

Don't get me wrong, I am quite an active kid. It's just that there's only so much you can do.

P.S. I've stopped PC gaming. So maybe that's why I have a lot time on my hands...

Get those verbal reasoning book and numerical reasoning eg and just work your way through your questions. Dw its quite normal i know a girl who started stuyding for the umat from like year 8 and ended up getting in the 90 percentile lol

Starting prep this early won't make a huge difference..

Chill! You would regret it once you mid way in year 12..

Maybe you should pick up different hobby... go out with friends

... just cherish this year. :D

I'd agree with learning speed reading for now, especially for helping you with section 1. You'll obviously have to read stuff over the next few years, whether for study or for leisure, so you might as well get into this habit. It's an absolute must-have skill for the UMAT given that most people won't finish the exam. Section 2 is fairly difficult to improve on and I don't think reading generally is going to help you there. Section 3 can be improved massively, but I wouldn't bother for now. You can focus on that once you pay for the actual courses. I crammed all my UMAT prep in about 6 weeks and went from being fairly average (estimated 70 percentile initially) to getting 100 percentile on section 3. Studying that section for 2-3 years just is not worth it.

No that's not normal.

And personally, if I did like 5 years of UMAT prep I'd be pretty disappointed with 90%ile, that's not very encouraging to the OP...

She wasnt quite normal she had a learning disablity and considering most people were saying she would get int the 60-70 percentile she worked her ass off and got the result. Why cant you start studying i when your in year 8 or 9 im not saying to do the full course but to sit down maybe for a hour each week and just go though some questions lol

Fair enough, I didn't know that. Good on her.

I'm not saying "don't prepare", I'm saying "there's no need" and "it's not normal".
