Unit 3 vs Unit 4

I have a fair idea how the ranking system works but I am just wondering do you get separate ranks for unit 3 and unit 4. For example if you are  ranked number 2 in unit 3 and number 1 for unit 4, do your scores get moderated against the exam for both units. So would you get the 2nd highest exam mark for unit 3 course work and the 1st highest exam mark for unit 4 coursework for your final study score?

Each graded assessment for school assessed stuff is moderated separately. So it depends on the subject and what GA's it has.  If the subject has 2 graded assessments allocated for sacs (i.e. GA1: Unit 3 SACS, GA2: Unit 4 SACS) then you would get separate ranks for each. If the subject only has 1 graded assessment allocated for sacs (usually subjects with 2 exams, like maths), you'd be ranked based on what mark you got for both units.

For most subjects Unit 3 and 4 are seperate. For some like maths where there are two exams Unit 3 and 4 are together.

It's best to check the VCAA website and look at how the different GA's are allocated.

for a subject like bio with only one exam how are they calculated? like i know there would be 1 ga for unit 3 and another for unit 4 sacs but when vcaa works out what grade you get for your sacs how do they determine it since normally they give the highest exam mark as the 1st ranked persons sac mark?
