does anyone know what we are required to do under this topic besides know what each stage is and does? and are there questions on this every exam? has anyone got a practice sac on this as well? thanks

From what I remember it is good to know about mutations, genetic variability in Meiosis (independent assortment, crossing over).

are there questions on this every exam?

Not sure about other company exams but this ALWAYS appears in VCAA exams.

has anyone got a practice sac on this as well?
Unfortunately we are not allowed to be sharing copyrighted materials on AtarNotes. Though I suggest you just gather Mitosis and Meiosis question from exams and put them all together.

The examiners are always very keen to see you use your knowledge in context. No doubt there'll be question that merely ask you to recall facts (as dictated by the study design above), however, for high achieving students, they want to see a demonstration of that knowledge used in context. Quite often, exam questions will describe a situation and will ask you to comment on whether or not two organisms may be able to breed, possible reasons for a genetic disease or et cetera. You'll get the best idea from looking at exams, but these type of questions require you to recall the knowledge and then use it. It gives you the opportunity to do some scientific sleuthing. So it's paramount that you understand each stage, but also understand the importance of each stage. You need to be able to describe what can go wrong, and, in terms of the science, why that causes an anomaly. It's not just enough to be able to blurt out information on biol—you need to be able to use that information! :)
