Hey guys
i was wondering if you didnt have to do Dr He's entrance exam if you are a macrob/ MHS student ?
and also IS THE MAN ANY GOOD?
i know some say he is good and some people say otherwise
but more importantly
DID HE GET YOU THE MARKS!?
and also, how can you distinguish whether it was his teaching that brought success, or were you already destined to success considering  you PASSED his supposedly ridiculously hard exams ?
 ;D ;D ;D ;D thanks guys

By the way, tutors don't "get" you the marks, they guide you along the path in which you work harder and therefore achieve better results.

perhaps i didnt phrase my thoughts correctly.
All i meant was, will his guidance enable you to get very high marks , like a 50 in methods.

You have a chance of getting high marks whether you have a tutor or not. You have some people under Dr. He who get 45-50, and some who worked their assess off and got 50 with no tutor.

I never went to Dr. He (went to Derrick Ha instead) but I have heard good stuff about him, so it's worth considering if you manage the pass his exams. His questions tend to be harder and more sophisticated than the ones VCAA will throw at you, and I guess the constant barrage of homework and tests motivates other students to study.

That being said, a good tutor does not necessarily mean you'll magically get good marks. Your marks are still very dependent on yourself, think of a tutor as an extra resource or something.

After reading what everyone has posted, I just wanted to say that I never had a private tutor. Never even went to one of those exam preparation lectures.

Never underestimate the amount of help that you can get from your subject teachers at school. My specialist teacher spent many lunch times and spare periods with me going over stuff.

He's very good at his own little niche, which is getting people who are already high achieving and refining them on those little technicalities and such that they lose marks on. I went there for Specialist Maths and it definitely helped a lot in terms of training me in those little things. Because his English isn't the greatest though, if you don't already understand the course content, he's probably not the best person to have explain it to you.

Went for Methods and Spech

Can't thank the man enough. Definately would not have gotten my scores if I didn't go.

I would say that his homework is so challenging that it teaches you to think differently about problems which is really good since if you get stuck you can always try different methods to try getting the answer.

Also gives the best exam tips and notes :D
