Graduate positions/ Holiday programs

What are my chances of landing a graduate job if i haven't done any holiday programs ? Accounting and/or finance graduate positions ?

There are so many other factors too, but the simple answer is that your chances are lower. Many companies hire from their pool of interns/vacationers before they turn to normal graduate applicants.

Yeah...

Try applying for government jobs that might use accounting though. Those often don't have vacation programs if there's a security requirement.

I have heard directly from HR people in firms like EY that they approximately offer 80% of their grad positions to vacationers who've worked with them.

Yes, I'm being perfectly serious. This is why I always emphasise the importance of internships.

I have heard directly from HR people in firms like EY that they approximately offer 80% of their grad positions to vacationers who've worked with them.

Sounds right. I've heard a similar figure for one of the other Big Four. It's not fixed obviously, but it's probably accurate as a ball park figure.

She's deadly serious. I think our last few intakes have basically been at least 80% vaccies if not 100. Companies see them as a try before you buy deal.

You can try. If not, have you considered applying to summer internships and doing honors?
