I might fail VCE altogether because of this english SAC

Hey guys,

Im in year 12 this year doing VCE and i recently failed an English sac worth 50 marks out of 200 for the entire unit or something because i didn't know the book well enough. I now have to do a re-sit for an "S" mark for that SAC or else i risk forfeiting my ATAR score and failing VCE completely.

I am here because i need help on what to write and how to write this SAC i am ressiting. The book i have to reference from is "The Rugmaker of mazar-E-Shariff" by Robert Hillman and Najaf Mazari. I can also draw reference from the Bruce Beresford's movie Paradise Road which i also know very little about so i would probably avoid the movie.

The prompt is "The way we respond to conflict is important" (i think, or something similar) and it's a context essay. I have 100 minutes to complete it.

I've already made a greater effort to read the book and plot synopsis online but have not read the book. I know parts of it but i havent read the entire book.

Please, any help would be so greatly appreciated. I would really hate to have gone this far in school just to fail the entire VCE all because i did bad on ONE SAC.

Have you checked sample context pieces on the atarnotes notes database? These are really good, in both ideas and structure.

Also TSFX also has a notes database in their website (but you have to sign up- but it's all free!)- if I remember correctly I think it's called VCEdge Online. Just be very critical when reading these- I have read some of the pieces on it and though the ideas can at times be really sophisticated, I personally didn't like some of their structure/expressions.

Both are large databases  so if you're lucky they might have the exact text you're looking for (can't be absolutely sure though).

Read sample contexts and glean the ideas and structure out of them! And relax! I'm sure the teachers are on your side! :)

You're lucky your school allows you to do resits, my school doesn't in year 12.
I did a SAC for this exact same book last semester and I did a speech that earned me 20/30 marks. That's around 33/50. Not the best mark but it's a pass.
It all depends on what you're good at and what you want to do... I never read the book, I just took one idea from the book, made a persona, and built on it. What ggxoxo said is probably the better idea but if you really can't be bothered with all that work then this is another alternative that you can do.
Hope I helped :)
