Hi everyone! I'm entering year 12 next year and I have a spare slot and I'm not sure if I should do Psychology or Health 3/4. I'm choosing between these two subjects as I think they will be interesting and more interesting=more fun. I'm doing other 'hard' subjects (Methods, bio, chem, english) so I want a subject that isn't TOO intense but interesting because for me, if it's interesting I can absorb it.

What are your opinions?

Any help is appreciated! thanks in advance! :)

HHD is certainly interesting in both unit 3 and 4(although more in Unit 3), however it can be content heavy and a bit boring in unit 4 at least in my opinion.

I personally prefer psych! I picked up health & it's not as interesting as I had hoped :( you may like it though!

Edit: it's also worth noting health scales down by twice as much!

psych really heklps you understand whats going on with yourself in year 12 especially the mental health learning part in unit 4. I was unsure about psych too as I picked it up in year 12, but Im glad I chose itover health

Would recommend psyc for sure. Unit 1/2 health is amazing whereas, like everyone said 3/4 health is very content heavy and just dry. Definitely regretting doing 3/4 health this year.
Also, the study design for HHD is changing for next year so if you begin thinking forward to exam times, there will be more practice papers for the current study design in psyc whereas HHD may only have one of VCAAs practice papers

I'd say health but I'm just being biased. Personally, I think it depends on your personal interests. I have friends this year doing both health and psych and I'd say its an even split over their preferred choice. If you're interested in global health and social justice and all that, choose health. If you're interested in sleep and mental health and understanding others, I'd say choose psych.

I understand your point but I'm taking both and even with a rubbish teacher for psyc, I still enjoy it more. Plus, you get multiple choice on the psyc exam. Can you get any better than that?

Well if you like psych more, then choose psych over health. It's a no brainier really..

Ah I wouldn't advise on choosing a subject purely because of multiple choice on the exam...

Peeeersonally, HHD and Psychology are kinda on the same type of subjects for me.

Whilst one subject (psych) allows you to learn about yourself and the way the world is interpreted in the mind, health allows you to learn about the world around you, in a more routine , tangible kind of way. Both have a considerable amount of memorization, although I believe psychology allows you to do so easier, as it relates to you as an individual.

If you enjoy studying about yourself emotionally, psychology is a awesome choice.
If you enjoy studying about health medically, and the way health revolves around the world, HHD is a good choice.

Why not try flipping through the textbooks, so that you can determine what fits your style? :D

Multiple Choice on Psychology is actually quite annoying. Most of the time, the options are VERY similar. Its like one word that changes the whole thing and you have to read it a few times to pick the correct one. e.g. "will" or "may" but the rest of the sentence would be the same. Irritates me, but I'm so glad its over.

Psych Unit 3 is enjoyable, but I didn't like Unit 4.

I have a few friends who enjoy HHD, but they also do Psych and enjoy Psych more because its more interesting.

Personally, I'd go with Psych.

Good Luck with your decision (I'm guessing you've already made it though)!

Damoz, that's exactly what I was just thinking!
I'm actually really interested to see which of the two they ended up choosing
