Companies for Accounting Practice Exams

Just looking over the resources I've collected off past students and current, wanted to find out if the following companies are credible in terms of the content in their practice exams:

Insight
CPAP
PES
TSSM

I'm going to obviously do the VCAA ones, alongside NEAP, but am wondering if the above 4 companies are worth giving a shot, or just irrelevant.

PES exams are fairly easy.. I think they only started up last year. Likewise, Insight and TSSM are on the easier side (below VCAA standard). CPAP is around VCAA standard, sometimes a bit harder.

They're all "credible" companies. I think its a fairly good idea to do a couple from the easier ones then jump to VCAA and the harder ones such as NEAP, Compak, VCEPub, CSE (if you have them).

Personally, I'm not a big fan of TSSM. Their exams have too many mistakes and errors. I actually bought an exam from them directly, and they gave me an exam from the OLD study design, so it was completely useless

I've done at least 3 from each of those companies that you have Practice Exams from. I've learned something from each and every exam that I'm up to so far (up to my 16th at the moment). There's been a couple that have mistakes, TSSM as sam stated had a mistake, and one of the Compak ones had a mistake. But everyone makes mistakes, so it wasn't a big deal for me.

I think that if you learn at least one thing from each practice exam you do, which can be a very simple thing, then you have done well. With the questions you get wrong, do them again and see how you go. That's how you will learn from practice exams. Not attacking you, but just giving advice. If you get something wrong, find out why and what the correct method was to do it, and then do it again yourself. Don't look at the solutions and then say "oh yeah, won't make that mistake again". Trust me, it helps if you do it again.

Going back to your question, all of them are useful. If you can, get a hold of the Compak and QATS ones. In comparison with the past VCAA Exams, I find them fairly close in terms of difficulty.

If only I had read this earlier. I've done about 5-6 practice exams, and have done shockingly. Had my trial exam in school today, didn't finish. I don't think I'm learning off my mistakes or even trying. And the main issues I'm having are the consolidation of some concepts (particularly Ledgers), and the constant thinking at the back of my mind at how bad my SAC marks have been (particularly as my teacher doesn't use her own knowledge but relies on the given company's recommended answers). It's a bit obvious that I should be learning off each mistake, but been too nervous and a huge lack in confidence. Thanks for the advice mate

There isn't really any point doing exam after exam if you continue to make the same mistakes. Accounting is a subject where practice is key to doing well. In my view, there isn't a set order in which to do exam papers. Just start with any and work your way up til you feel confident. I would also preface trying to do or hit X amount of exam papers. Quality over quantity. I suggest keeping a record or log of your mistakes just in case you need to refresh your memory.

If only I had read this earlier. I've done about 5-6 practice exams, and have done shockingly. Had my trial exam in school today, didn't finish. I don't think I'm learning off my mistakes or even trying. No worries. Just make sure you look at the solutions after you complete an exam, and see how they got the answer, and learn from it. Repeat the question to thoroughly ensure that you understand how to do it.

Mr Wood.com.au have some Accounting Practice exams that my teacher gave me which are really good as they are made from the VCAA 2013 sample exam. It was surprising to me that they are making accounting practice exams as they have no page for accounting on their website. If you want a copy let me know. These exams are very good to do as every question in them are hard and the questions are really hard to understand considering all of the aditional information they give for certain questions. Some of their exams have 9 Questions while others have 11 Questions all worth 100 Marks and the suggested A+ score they think is 90+

Yup, I got them at the end of last term and did them straight away. Its not hard, but it is challenging and does make you think a lot. Especially with BDA's.

Solutions are very accurate as well.
