What if it isn't enough?

Hey guys!
Currently running through my second year in the Bachelor of Science here at Melbourne. My aim so far has been for Medicine, although my current performance at uni would tell quite a different story. Is it possible for me to continue taking subjects after this course completes in order to raise my GPA to somewhat of a competitive level to then apply for med?

*(First post here so please redirect me if this isn't the place I should be asking)

Thanks in advance!

What's your GPA at the moment if you're willing to say?

You could try going into an Honours year and hopefully boost your GPA?

There's a bit less flexibility at UoM with regards to adding on a dual degree or a diploma which could conceivably boost it up. Look into taking *really easy* electives/summer subjects if possible.

I don't know much about UoM administration but if it comes down to bare bones you could consider adding a diploma in something (i dont know how that would work GPA wise though). I know monash offers a diploma in liberal arts which lets you do any arts major in the diploma.

You could also consider dropping down your load and taking less subjects. I know it sounds shitty to be there for an extra year or whatever but the additional focus and time it provides you might help as well.

I believe that a diploma is not included in your medicine GPA.  I could be incorrect, though.

Since this has to do with this thread, does anyone know what GPA you would want to have to be competitive at gaining a place in Medicine at Melbourne?

I have read on other forums that a 6.75 GPA with a good GAMSAT is required.
Mind you, the threshold is lower for those which are disadvantaged etc.

It's going up, but 6.75 seems a bit high. 6.5 is probably still fine as a competitive score
