Hey I was just wondering what everyone's predictions were for the Whose reality prompts for this years exam. I don't really mind what It is, theyre always pretty conservative haha  :D, but does anyone think they may do something different this year?
Good luck for tomorrow everyone!

well that depends on your perception of vcaa ;)

jks mate, I don't really mind either. I guess though that people who've memorised a response / a skeleton of one will hope for their sort of prompt

Good luck to you too sandimashighschoolfootballrules + everyone else :)

Perhaps like: Our reality is shaped by the experiences of those around us?

Given Death of a Salesman, Leunig, I think something like that would be suitable... or perhaps
Our reality is that of our own, not that of the world around us.

I'm not sure. Last year's didn't match very well to Leunig, so I'm just imagining that they will make it a bit more suited to his text this year. But I have no idea! :)

Anyone else got predictions?

The only thing I'm predicting is that the prompt will not severely disadvantage one text, as it did with Leunig last year.

If you're hoping for the unexpected, the context prompt could be an image. :P

Yup. Yeah, my tutor said it could be an image as well. He gave us a Practice Exam with the prompt as an image, just in case it did come up in the Exam. :)

I seriously doubt it will be an image, given the fact that most people haven't learnt about it, and it would literally be there to prove a point and throw students off, rather than to get a good spread of abilities.

Although, I could be eating my words tomorrow... :P

How can the prompt be an image? Don't understand  :-\

Haha I would love an image! It would soooo open to interpretation. I could just regurgitate my mem'd piece.

I'm thinking now that Death of a Salesman AND Leunig are in the syllabus, they surely won't give another fantasy or memory prompt - there's so many more aspects of reality they could draw from DOAS - American dream, conforming our reality to the world around us, blah blah blah. So I'm hoping for that. I've mainly prepared for that, but got a fantasy/memory/general reality one just in case. Sort of riding on luck here though.

To be honest, I'd really like a memory prompt. I managed to find a clever way to incorporate Leunig. :P

Well for our practice exam, it was a girl in real life but "fantasising" by painting a picture in thin air with horses and clouds and stuff. I think it helps if you write down a prompt from that (If the Prompt is a picture), so that you have something to keep referring to. :)

I'm trying to find the picture on Google because I think my tutor would've got it off there, but I'll keep looking. :)

Yeah same. My creative piece is based on memories of my childhood, but I'm writing it as an older man. :p Based to Spies as my main textual reference. :)

Can anyone explain to me Spies/The Player?

I know DOAS revolves around a) our realities being formed by the expectations of others b) how our fantasy can dominate our reality c) how fantasies negatively affect our lives d) how we lose ourselves in the realities of other people

And Leunig revolves around (mainly) a) how our realities are formed by the world around us and not a whole lot about fantasy or memory, unless you're creative.

But what about Spies and the Player? What are they about?

Ah wonderful! I'll just do some light reading the day before the exam  :P But does spies revolve around society imposing our reality upon us blah blah blah? Or just fantasy?
