A lot of common questions are constantly coming up, and are very similar. To help overcome this, I've decided to construct a big document with a number of questions answered. This will ensure that the same question is not constantly coming up every time.

So, post your questions, and feel free to answer other people's questions, and I will construct a word document with all of the questions combined in nice sections to easily refer to it. :) Questions can be about anything. e.g. "Are we allowed a digital watch in the Exam"?

Post Questions, and answer other people's questions as well.

Lets make this a team effort! :) Post away!

If you want your name to be posted alongside the Question or an Answer you make, then please mention it when you are posting your Question or Answer to someone else's Question.

Wait, are we allowed a digital watch into the exam? We are right? Just no new iPods made to look like watches or calculator watches, right?

You are allowed to have a digital watch (not a S Gear or iWatch :P), but it cannot be able to produce any sound and it cannot have any alarm or stopwatch features either.

From the Exam Navigator:
Quote
Stopwatches or watches with special functions, such as an alarm or stopwatch, are not permitted in the examination room.

Beeping is against VCAA rules. The examiner should have made a report.

Beeping is against VCAA rules.
I found that oddly hilarious. Like they're the fun police (which they kinda are)
No Beeping, Whizzing, Whistling or Whoosling of any kind is permitted in the examination room.

On Topic : A guide of what to write on the front of your VCAA paper. I walked into the exam room this morning and had to ask one of the co-coordinators.

You made my night last night about that Respect thing with nliu, and your making my night again with this Post. :P

Ohh, about the Figures and Words? Yes, I'll include that in the document. :)

I'm guessing you know what it means now, but for those of you who don't know...
If your VCAA Student Number was 11302512 X
* Under "Figures", you would write in each number of your VCAA Student Number in each box.
* For "Words", it means actually write the word of each number underneath the number. e.g. "ONE ONE THREE ZERO TWO FIVE ONE TWO". There is no need to include the letter again for "Words" - Only for Figures.

BTW, this isn't my VCAA Student Number, so your wasting your time if you try and do something with this number. :P

EDIT: Chase's Example is a bit more detailed than mine. :)

No, you get a "Place Card", and you just have to write out that number on the Boxes. :) You have to manually write it as a confirmation that there are no mistakes in the printing of the labels attached to the Question and Answer Booklet. Its also there to confirm its you sitting the correct Exam paper. :)

Rules against beeping etc. are just there to ensure everyone sitting the exam despite in many different locations has a similar experience in the exam room to ensure it can be done as fairly as possible.

It's definitely confusing if you don't know what to write. Last year I don't even think I did it properly.

I'll write a brief guide: Here is an example exam cover http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/Documents/exams/2013%20Nov%20exam%20covers/2013biol-cov-mc.pdf
Let us use the example student number: 1 2 3 4 5 6 W

Your student number is given to you on a card in the corner of your desk in the exam room and is also on a sticker on the booklet your answers go in.

When the supervisor advises you to do so you must first right out your student number in the provided space (titled figures) in numbers and the letter i.e. 1 2 3 4 5 6 W

Than below that you need to write out the numbers in letters in the provided space (titled words). i.e. in the case of this example write:
one two three four five six (You don't have to write out the letter)

Also If you have a multiple choice answer sheet (or any other response material you hand in for assessment) you must also sign it with your signature in the provided area.
*Make sure your student number recorded on the MC answer sheet is the same as the one on your exam paper/provided card.*

Edit: Damoz. beat me to it :P I still like my guide :P

Edit2: Once writing time ends are you allowed to talk while the papers are being collected? i.e. can the supervisor ask you "how the exam was" etc. as they collect the paper.

Mod Edit: Yall need to learn to use dat der "Modify" button, kthxbai - Phy124

No, you can't. ALL Exam papers must be collected by the Supervisors, and you may only begin talking when the main supervisor dismisses you.

Whilst they are being collected, you can pack up, but no communication with anyone else in the room.

Great initiative Damoz, one thing though.

It might be wise to include a reference to the official VCAA documentation that supports what you are saying and also a quote.

Eg Can I bring a digital watch into the exam?
You may as long as it has no stopwatch/special functions or makes a sound. It must be on your desk at all times.
-VCAA Navigator 2013 Page 4.

This way we can ensure the material that is provided is still correct, and people can confirm it for that extra piece of mind.

Attached is a image of the place card that will be sitting on your desk as you walk in.

Thanks for the feedback, Steven. I'll definitely use it. :)

Where did you get that picture of the Place Card?
