Does anyone else keep getting re-directed to the Webinar announcement thread?
I can't access some parts of the forum at times
Yeah happens quite often, pressing that back button on the browser to go to the previous page usually works for me.

Guys I would like your opinion on things.

With this year obviously being our last year at high school, I do want to make it memorable. I do understand the importance of study, however, I would also like to do some extracurricular activities and events which I may have not done in the past, which will be my last chance to do things like this. My Asian parents are fairly disappointed with my results last year, and they often complained about how my participation in extracurricular activities led to my poor results (I don't think my results were THAT bad, but their expectations are higher than mine). I have even told them about how our school and teachers recommend us to do things like these, and even top achievers do lots of things too. I have argued with my parents and it never works, because as typical Asians, the only thing they allow me to do is study, sleep, exercise and eat. If my results were good last year, they may not be so harsh on me. I really don't know what I should do??? Should I go out of my way to do things my parents wouldn't let me do? Like joining things after school, and some things require parental consent. I also work 6-13 hours a week at a casual job too, which they are not too happy with but they don't mind if I work a couple of hours.

tl;dr my parents are VERY against the idea of doing extracurriculars. I've argued even using real-life examples too. Should I listen to them or not?? :(

Really hard to answer this tbh,

I think what you can try is to go for a "trial period". Pretty much, argue for them to allow you to do your extracurricular activities/ whatever you desire for a month or two and try to demonstrate to them that the effect of you doing this will have no negative impact on your studies. IF they do impact your results, then it's likely that they will disallow you to continue for the remaining of the year. HOWEVER if you can prove to them that you can manage your time well enough for this one month or two, without impacting your studies. I'm sure they'll be more than happy for you to continue your extracurricular activities.

Have fun! hope this helps as this is what I sort of tried haha :3

EDIT: a word

What you said was on "point" :P Yeah, if you can convince them to give it a chance, then you could even prove it will help your studies, only problem would be if the extracurricular activity requires a commitment for a certain period of time (e.g semester), then you really need to be able to convince them! good luck though, sure you'll be fine :)

What kind of activities are you referring to?
Because some activities may be beneficial for your future career, which you can use as a fact to convince your parents. :)
Eg: volunteering at a hospital for medicine,

Just the 'typical' ones like music and stuff (which will not be related to my future career lol)

One could argue that continuing with such extracurricular activities are still relevant to your future career, even if they don't seem directly related at the moment. That's certainly my view, at least.

Apologies for hijacking your thread. Best of luck. :)

I would recommend doing questions from a textbook, finish the course by August, smash out prac papers and study guides after that to refine your skills.

This should be similar to how maths worked from years 7-11, no?

Well I kind ditched Methods when I realised it was pretty much the same as Units 1/2, and then just mucked around on my calc to figure out the new probability. Spent 90% of my "maths study time" on Spesh.

Finish both by August, finish everything by August sometime.

Haha it couldn't have been that bad but hey at least you're putting in the effort now (when's your first SAC for English [not the oral])?

Also it's going to be a scorcher of a week this week (we have Swimming Carnival on Tuesday so that'll be fun)!
