I am using the Heinemann Methods book (yellow one)
I will do as much as I can over the holidays, 2 chapters, 3 chapters, all 9, I mean anything is better than not going ahead at all. Yes I did GMA this year and Im doing specialist maths next year aswell, good idea to also go ahead in spesh on the holidays?

I feel like I would just overdo everything and this might have a slight impact on my performance in Year 12, so confused!

Oh the Heinemann textbook! I haven't used that textbook since Year 9!
And personally I feel going ahead in Maths helps quite a lot in comparison to other subjects like Biology or Physics. Knowing more processes in Maths-related subjects certainly helps and can be applied in many different scenarios in comparison to the science subjects :) I know I'll be going ahead in Specialist since my school has hardcore SACs which I want to get on top of next year :P

Anyone got any advice on chem? I actually didn't do the 1/2 so I feel like I am screwed. I do find the chem in bio interesting but is yr 12 chem similar? I have no idea how I am going to catch up

Btw, you are experienced with the Year 12 exam stress, so how early do you realistically think I should start studying for the exams?

Plus, are you planning to go ahead in your subjects on the holidays, or just relax?

Hiiii,
Since i took lit this yr for eng subjects my advice is not wander ahead of your class but to shove in more effort in considering your thematic interpretations of the text and applying thee ideas to the text response structure. you seem concerned with methods tho but i thought this maybe helpful!! :) :) I'm going ahead with most of my subjects too, so you're not the odd duck out!!   :)  ;D

Hey. I didn't take chem this year but my sister and my friends did so I asked them both on your behalf.  :) Basically idk whether you had an analytical/advanced science in year 10 but they said that you need to revise over that, and literally the whole yr 11 text book. my sister said there is a lot of overlap in 12 with 11 chem, in stuff like stoichemistry (idk what this is or how to spell it?sorry!) and moles and stuff so literally find the yr 12 study design and go through everything... she said maybe find a tutor?
but like, secondhand advice probably isn't your best source..i say maybe hunt for help on the chem board...AN is understanding i'm sure they'll have tips for you!! good luck man! :)  :D

There’s nothing wrong with getting ahead as I did the same with all my subjects (Economics 3/4 in year 10, methods and Spesh 3/4 this year, light reading for Revs last year- completed it this year) accept chemistry so far (probably why I’m doing badly at it LOL) and English where I do pretty much the same stuff next year as I did this year. Just make sure you actually enjoy the subjects that you are actually studying ahead for, as it will keep you motivated to do so. Like I read through the economics ¾ material when I was in year 10, not particularly because I wanted to ‘get ahead’, but because I was really interested in it and wasn’t studying anything at school related to it. I don’t really think I could have done the same for Chemistry to be honest, as it’s quite complex and a bit dry at times. For Spesh I had a tutor to teach me the concepts, and for methods, I studied on my own-watch videos and do the Essentials Textbook problems. For Revs I just read relevant material during my term holidays last year. I would recommend against cramming too much of the course in a short period of time, if you’re ambitious maybe just try to cover unit 3 during holidays and unit 4 during the mid-year holidays.

This holidays I might do more random maths problems, revise unit 4 economics on policies, revise stoichiometry and relevant ½ parts for Chemistry, read books for English and revise topics such as complex regions, vector proofs, kinematic and dynamics-which I'm not really clear on.

Good luck  :D

Hi everyone I just wanted to ask how everyone's study routines go usually? Would you revise all your subjects in one day or do some subjects on one day and the rest the next, I'm in year 12 next year and I'm not exactly sure how I should adequately proportion my workload

If this is a whole day of study (obviously take breaks and stuff), covering two maybe three subjects in depth is possible. For me, it’s usually two (I’m not that fast haha). At the end of the day skim through all your subjects if this makes sense. Different people have different ways of doing things there is no right or wrong answer.  :)

i haven't started yet because i still have to go to school for orientation, but i enjoy doing subjects in chunks (e.g. one week completely english next week completely legal studies) and making some sort of cue cards/notes for the topic which i can use to lightly refresh my memory as i continue on with the next subject block. i find that my personality is very obsessive and once i'm absorbed into something the only way i can learn it in depth is through continuing it through.

Having said that this works for me but it may not be your style! Proportion your subjects the way you want to; make a to do list or maybe a time table or even just plot stuff in your head - there's no real set way of doing preparation or anything.
good luuuuuuck  :)

Love the idea of the cue card method to refresh your memory!
Will definitely try it out soon :P

My week of no school will officially end tomorrow when I start my two week Headstart program >.<
Though I actually feel really refreshed to come back to school which is a bit weird LOL :P

Glad i helped!!  ;D  ;D  ;D
Another thing I do i colour code them according to the subject block (e.g. all history notes blue) and then i stick up the same sheets around my wall and in the hallways with the same colour. That way even if i'm not actively studying the subject if i walk past the wall i start to feel bad and stop to read it, which in turn refreshes my memory. cue cards are good because i can shuffle them out of order, get other to randomnly test me as dinner table trivia and carry 'em with me always.

I strangely enough identify with this..sometimes I feel like if i go without school too long then my brain kinda stagnates hahaha...holidays always refreshes my will to learn. :) :) good luck with your headstart program!! what is it exactly?? is it like orientation or like a summer school for a subject or smthg???

My last formal year 11 classes end this Tuesday (weird I know) and my 3/4 orientation starts on 2nd of December, haven't got my timetable for that yet.

It's just two weeks of class for our 3&4 subjects (so I guess it's like Orientation :) ) First lesson they should go over the course outline for next year and maybe go over some of the study design but other than that they'll just be teaching us as if it were during the middle of the year :)

We finish on December 5!

And a weird question but which brand of book contact do you guys use? I want to cover my books for next year so they're in good condition for next year when I sell them off LOL but I don't know which one to buy (since I don't know how much I'll be using)... http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/school-art/book-coverings
