cos I got bad grades in year 10, I was only allowed to do one 3/4 (they said I should do Chinese cos I sucked at methods) and the school was like "What's the point of doing 3/4 methods next year when you won't even get a 20 to meet university prerequisites"
and when I get my 40+ (LOL JK) I can smile in their faces and be like  8) 8) 8) 8) 8) in your face

I literally can't remember the name omg I was in primary school!!! I didn't even know what if was for back then.
I don't think we even got paid much. My mum's friend just hosted it and they had a long chit chat after the food tasting
At least you got to do one subject, i wasnt allowed to do one because I wasnt "academically fit" lol, I actually dont regret that, because that changed me so much. I would not be in my position without those two words, they made me think about life.... a bit too much... haha :P

youre all so sciency got nothing in common but eng!! im taking english, revs, legal, classical studies, and econ!! anyone else ????
im hoping for arts or law or in one of those jobs where they pay you to eat food..i forget what its called. hopefully there maybe one of these for sleeping too so i can do that too.

Already did Revs, and doing eco and English next year, but my other subjects are completely different to yours (Chem, Methods, Spesh) :P. I’m more of a humanities/maths (rare breed I know :P) kid hoping to go down the pathway of studying medicine down the track, as it seems like a very inspiring career. But before I do that I would like to explore other interests such as history, neuroscience, philosophy, economics, theoretical maths, chemical engineering or even urban planning sounds interesting lol. Don’t really know what course I’m going to do after school exactly but I’m probably going to do medicine some way down the track. :D

In terms of score for this year, like many people started the year aiming for 45+, but came out of exams shattered :-\. At this point I would consider myself fortunate to get high 30s, not saying I would be happy with this but it could have been much worse. I’m been crying (real tears) about the future and receiving my results :'(. I haven’t even decided how I’m going to check my results (sms, online, or mail). Hopefully I can make this my sixth subject by getting a few high 40s next year.

For those doing English next year what Creating and Presenting/Context theme are you doing?

I'm a humanities/maths orientated person as welll. But I don't think I'll be taking a humanities subject since it'll clash with spesh when I do undertake VCE.

lol yeah I'm humanities/maths kinda too :P
but only did 1 maths
but as you can see by me wanting to do arts (and maybe commerce) at uni

I didn't aim high at the start of the year cos everybody had low expectations of me. I know that getting a 45 is out of my reach haha so I was kinda semi-realistic with a 30? lol

I tried to sign up my sms but it doesn't let me! so annoying omg

that's good you don't regret it!  :)
I actually ended up doing two, and I have no regrets.
Most year 12s at my school said that "you will die" if you did 5 subjects, most year 12's who do 5 are 'dying', most year 12s who do 4 are doing okay.

Which revs did you?? im doing france + russia!! did you enjoy the year?? was it difficult? you seem like a really well balanced type haha, i think it's very admirable for you to desire to expand your knowledge base by taking a multitude of subjects :) im a straight humanities kid tho haha...maths is a period of my life which is kinda painful to reflect upon.

don't cry over it tho :( :( . like. i read somewhere on AN that your sixth subject forms a miniscule part of your ATAR aggregate. there were lots of number involved so i dont really understand his explanation of how much it is exactly but it seemed very small!! cheeeeer up buttercup  :D we'll be fantabulous in eco and eng next year hahaha we can make up for it :) join in the chocolate therapy.

for context im doing encountering conflict wbu??

i really admire this perspective  :D i have the tendency to feel hurt easily but this is really inspiring haha!! sure we'll all do wonderful next yr :)

Whose Reality (Death of a Salesman and The Lot in Words)! It's an interesting theme though the texts we have to do for Context (mainly The Lot) doesn't satisfy me... how about you appleandbee?

Yeah, just remind yourself that only you, yourself, can control what you can and cannot do and that fear is only an illusion. Once you realise this, you will be free, you will view everything in a different way! :)

That’s weird because I have a couple of friends who did only one subject in year 11 (most of them did methods) and 5 subjects in year 12 on top of holding high leadership positions at school and being heavily involved in music, but still managed to get high 99s atar.

I’m doing Whose Reality too (Death of a Salesman and Foe-new book) :). Foe is pretty dry but I like DOAS. I think many of the books in the English curriculum in general are not that great, even though I enjoy reading myself. As Death of a Salesman is the first SAC I have in the year for English, I've been looking at relevant material for Whose Reality mainly philosophy and psychology related, as well as stuff from psychiatrists. Currently I’m looking at epistemology (a branch in philosophy asking questions about knowledge and reality).

Haha yeah a lot of them are dry though I'm liking our Text Response novels for next year since they're "unique" (in that only ~1.5% of the state does our combination). We're doing DOAS for Unit 4 so I'm leaving that for later but good to know that you enjoyed it so far ^_^ I'll have to refer back to this page when I'm doing DOAS LOL
For The Lot (since it's a collection of short stories about 5-6 pages long put into a massive book), I'm trying to write down the main key ideas in each whilst researching along the lines of science and how it effects our perception of reality (like mental illnesses and so forth).

Naww thanks for the encouragement  :), yeah at this stage eco and eng is in my top 4, as I’m not really confident about Chem. Just a bit disappointed because I loved Revs so much so naturally I wanted to do well (not that not doing well affects my love). I’m doing Whose Reality. Now on Revs…

Despite all pessimism and real doubts about my potential revs score, I don’t regret taking it, even though I mainly took it because it’s one of those subjects where most people go straight to units ¾ (as well as the fact I was really interested in it). I did Russian and French too and personally found French harder to grasp.  It is difficult? In terms of actually understand the content (not really), it’s mostly reading-the textbooks in these subjects are extremely good resources, and well as other reading materials. In terms of effort, you have to be dedicated, you’ll have a huge stack load of written notes by the time of exams (be organised with it), and you also have you do a lot of reading and writing notes in your own time. I highly recommend getting hold of the HTAV (History Teacher Association of Victoria) textbooks for both French and Russian if your school doesn’t already use them, best resources ever, as well as Connect Education Notes-very well summarised. The main thing that distinguishes students in this subject is the ability to analyse the details of events as relate it to the bigger picture like the effect the event had on society and normal people at that time as well as the aftermath/future (How other things happened or changed in the future as a result).

So yeah, a good score (40+) is definitely feasible, even though I’m mostly likely won’t get that, I kind of regret not working harder at the start of the year in this subject. Please also remember dates and a couple of significant quotes. Also read other historians’ perspectives.

Good luck and enjoy  :D

Yeah like a 99 atar is very doable but most people in general wished they had fewer subjects I guess.
I kinda wanted to do 5 next year (because I had trouble deciding what I wanted to do) but school was like 'no you can't' and I took on the advice of older students to only do 4 haha
Well if your friends went to the same school as you then no surprises ;)
