You gotta remember despite that strange ottawa charter question in the 2011 it had like a double page spread with at least 3 instances where you had to write out definitions or healthcare values haha, it balances sort of

Yeah, that's right. To be honest, I think we as a group have put in a lot more effort than many HHD students.
There are always gonna be people who don't get those easy definition questions etc

It may have been easy for many people who have put in the work, but for those who didn't, it probably wasn't! It all balances out, like you said

And many people don't even finish the paper.
At the beginning of each assessors report , there's always a comment like " Students answered most questions on this exam".
So guys we're in a much better position compared to a lot of other students who sit this exam!
Don't worry... you guys will smash it !

I've heard a few people who mucked up the social model ( gave Ottawa ) and gave green leafy vegetables as a food source

You guys will all do really well! There were a lot of people from my school who thought the exam was really hard and didn't finish at all! Personally I believe it was a fair and easy exam which means they probably will mark it harder.
With the question on a program for improving maternal health, was that meant to be made up or a real one? I made one up which just so happens to actually be real!

Yeah I made mine up but it was based on video we watched class.

We didn't need to learn a program about maternal health :)

:)

My teacher said that we were supposed to, as it wasn't a part of the study design to remember a program for maternal health, and also it said name a program that "could be implemented" .. i made one up but it turned out to be a real program hahaha

Haha I totally agree! the word "could" in the Q suggests that it's not a program that has yet been implemented so you have to make it up :) That really tests your understanding of how programs by NGOs/AusAid run and what they aim to achieve - a very application based (rather than rote-learning based) Q that will divide the HHD cohort and show the higher-ranking students! They had a Q like this in another VCAA exam too...I think about how AusAID could make a program to address poverty or something :) VCAA has really reduced the number of "rote" questions in the exams in recent years (especially with the onset of the 2010 study design) - another potential factor contributing to HHD's notoriously low cut-off!

As for the cut-off, I think it should stay pretty constant (hovering around the 75% mark), but the total marks being out of 95 (instead of 100) just down-right confuses me! And I wonder if that in any way would affect the cut-off (possibly by making it a teeny bit higher)? :-\ Like how is the exam not out of 100 LOL did one of the vcaa HHD people forget to put in their allocated questions orrrr?? :P Hmmm Fishy! It's just really odd that they'd change the total marks without letting you guys know! Imagine the confusion felt by people who had been strictly following a 1.2 mins per mark timing for the questions haha grrrrrrr VCAAAAAAA!!

Having tutored HHD for a few years, making up a program is completely fine as long as you can describe the fundamentals of that program and provide reasoning to how it can be implemented and in what kind of setting. You should all be fine if you mention something along the lines of providing more obstetricians, pre/post natal care as well as family planning and general healthcare.
