Hey guys, so what does everyone do in the 15 min reading time? What are your techniques and strategies?

Read all the information in DETAIL! Pick up on those very little things, particularly for Budgets.

Personally, I wouldn't spend time trying to work out answers. You would rather pick up on little things during Reading Time, because when Writing Time begins, you barely have any time to look over the content again, and are thus wasting time, and time that you don't have to waste.

So pick up on little things, such as balances at beginning as opposed to the end, dates, dates for BDAs, mark ups, etc.

Yeah basically what Damoz has said. Look for tricks. If you don't see any, you're not looking hard enough :P

Very true! If it seems too easy, it probably is. :P

What I always tell my students to do is to:
1. Flick through the entire paper to see what type of questions there are and make a mental note which questions you will tackle first

2. Go back and read the budgeting question again to pick up what they are asking

3. Read the discussion question and get an idea of the type of response you will write

4. Read the questions you will attempt first just before you start writing so you can go straight into doing those

5. Relax if there is still time :P

normally i take like 10minutes to read though everything and then i work out what i can get marks for easily and i think of what order i'm going to answer questions in.  For me I work out in the next 5 minutes the answers to a couple of the theory question.  That way when you start your writing time you get straight into the writing and don't waist your time on having to work out calculations.  I dunno that's just how I do things though.

I think it will be a bit different this year though. The theory will usually relate to the prac you have just done, so I'd probably recommend you do the questions you feel most confident in, but do it in order from part 1 until the end. Obviously its your decision, but that's what I would do, otherwise you will miss the L in the IDL response. =/
