I have a subject where i want to inspect my exam script, if the subject coordinator is away until after that, does that mean a remark is not possible?
I reckon that's poor commitment to duties if they are just going to escape on holidays and not allow students to request for exam viewings and/or remarkings. Anyone got any ideas of what I should do?
I tried to argue with my subject coordinator that I should be able to view my exam and have my exam remarked before results are released and was sent back this.
As per uni policy on assessment
13. Feedback to Students
13.1 Subject Coordinators will ensure that students are provided with formative and summative feedback about their academic performance.
13.2 Students are forbidden to communicate with examiners about the result of a assessment component before the publication of results of that component, and feedback should only be initiated once results are known. As results are not yet officially published I am unable to initiate any feedback as you are forbidden to speak to me about this via policy13.3 Any necessary enquiry prior to the publication of results should be made in writing to the Executive Director (Student Services) and Academic Registrar.
13.4 Comments should indicate to students how they have performed against assessment criteria. Wherever possible, comments should further indicate how a student can improve their performance, and ideally indicate what should be done specifically to achieve outstanding results.
13.5 In order for feedback to be provided about performance in examinations, a student should be able to discuss their answers with an examiner.
13.6 Students may request access to their examination scripts in accordance with the following:- Requests must be made to the subject coordinator. You can request via http://fbe.unimelb.edu.au/csc/assessment/appointments
- For subjects offered in standard semesters, the student must make the request before the end of the second week of the following semester.i.e. you have until week 2 of semester to make such a request
- For summer and winter term subjects and intensive subjects, the student must make the request by the end of the second week of the following study period.
- Where examination procedures are not complete at the beginning of the following semester or teaching period, students will be given at least two weeks following publication of results to make the request
- The subject coordinator must respond to the student within ten working days of the request and arrange a mutually convenient time with the student to view and discuss the examination script book. You are welcome to email me again after the official release of grades, after receiving such an email I will respond to you that bookings can be made through http://fbe.unimelb.edu.au/csc/assessment/appointments. Which will provide a list of my available times so that you can select one in which you are available thus a mutually convenient time.
The faculty does not allow exam viewings until after the supplementary exams. As per the booking booking website;
Please note: an exam viewing appointment is an opportunity to discuss your exam, not to request a remarking of your paper or to request additional marks. It is an opportunity for feedback only http://fbe.unimelb.edu.au/csc/assessment/appointments).
If you do view your paper and in the rare event you discover an addition error with either your exam paper or total marks I will arrange to have your grade corrected, we can correct errors at any time. If after viewing your paper you feel you were not marked against the marking guide and/or scaled unfairly you are welcome to follow the student complaints and grievance procedure, section 3 (
