I understand the 6 lectures and the tutorial on Tuesdays. The way the pracs are set out really makes no sense. they seem to repeat themselves 3 times. Could someone who has taken this subject before please explain how many pracs there are in total and are they every week on fortnightly.

Thank you very much.

There are multiple pracs that are run in a given timeframe. Some people will be first week, some will be second week.
You will have:
1 biochemistry, 1 cell biology, 1 genetics, 2 immunology/microbiology and 1 pathology.
Meaning in total 6 for the 12 weeks, so roughly once every 2 weeks.

You will be unable to predict from here very well what will be so for your situation, because these are the times I believe that they book the venue, but you will not have pracs every week.

It will be empty any time during those times across which you can go to if you need to, but you'll officially timetable one in which you tend to go to because for some they mark the attendance (I do not remember which as I went to them all anyway). In case this is out of context, most of the pracs are on the 'lab computers'. So no lab coats etc. with exception for the 2 microbiology/immunology ones which are done in another location.

It is better to do this during the timetabling period, because it will be more up to date, informative and relevant then.

Are some of the pracs optional to go to? :/

In fact what they get you to do is register in your pracs once the semester has started. What you put on your timetable means next to nothing; they will get you to put prac times down through the LMS.

I just went with my timetable from what I remember, with some people having certain issues whereby they could email the lecturers/prac coordinators.

Why are there two different pracs? P01 P02?

Why are there two different pracs? P01 P02?

    BIOM20001   P02/01   Monday   9:00am - 10:30am   Microbiology-213 (Prac Room)   1.5 hours
   BIOM20001   P02/02   Monday   10:30am - 12:00pm   Microbiology-213 (Prac Room)   1.5 hours
    BIOM20001   P02/03   Monday   2:15pm - 3:45pm   Microbiology-213 (Prac Room)   1.5 hours
   BIOM20001   P02/04   Monday   3:45pm - 5:15pm   Microbiology-213 (Prac Room)   1.5 hours
   BIOM20001   P02/05   Wednesday9:00am - 10:30am   Microbiology-213 (Prac Room)   1.5 hours
   BIOM20001   P02/06   Wednesday10:30am - 12:00pm   Microbiology-213 (Prac Room)   1.5 hours

These are the microbiology pracs, you will do them in 1.5 hour blocks at a separate venue rather than have a one-off 3 hour prac. It's one prac but divided up into two 1.5 hour blocks across 2 prac sessions, because you need to allow time for the samples you will deal with to grow.

So essentially you could timetable P01 and P02 at the same time?
