Picking up Health in 2014

I'm picking up health as a completely new subject next year, and I was wondering which things I should look over during the holidays so I'm not behind in the terminology. I'm really unsure of what to cover.
Thanks

Hey I did this in 2013 and I looked over everything but I really didn't need to !

I would just look over all the definitions at the start and the NHPAs but health is designed so that nothing is pre-assumed knowledge ! :)
Which text book are you using?

If you have any questions feel free to ask :)

I'm using the Cambridge textbook, I did do 3/4 biology this year, I'm not sure if that would help.

Ok I didn't have that one,

Biology does help with understanding things but don't get to caught up on different things eg genetic pre-disposition, pernicious anemia (although I think b12 is not on the course anymore ) and the types of fat (these are important concepts but sometimes little things from bio didn't make sense !

If this happens just forget about your bio knowledge but im sure you will be fine :)

Good Luck :)

Thanks!
btw, why is the A+ cut off for HHD so low, when everyone seems to say it's a relatively easy subject?

A fair amount of people do it as a "bludge" subject or some people just put more effort into other subjects because they think that health is "easier" than others :)

Also most people who aren't fully committed to school (eg people who have sport aspirations after school) take it, and they don't do so well.

75% is so low, although HHD does scale down a fair bit!!

It's good that it is easier to get an A+. But it still scales down. Eg, to get an A+ (higher than 40) in physics and chemistry you need 90%!! But both physics and chemistry scale up. On the other hand, to get 40 in HHD you need 75%, but scales down.

You shouldn't really worry about all this during the holidays. Take a break, do your holiday homework and stay ahead.

Key concepts. I'm only doing the holiday homework we have been given for health, so I'm not quite sure how far ahead I'll be but after skimming through it I should know several definitions, the NHPA's and some stuff from chapter 1 and 2.

sorry was away

My advice is to always stick with the study design for health it was probably the clearest one out of all my subjects (to know what you do and dont need to know )

as well as using cue cards for definitions

and having a good set of notes :)
