I managed 7-8 hours a night pretty regularly this year (and indeed since I started), so I don't think it's a given that you're going to have to miss sleep

If you've got an assignment due that you've left late and you need to read through X journals or chapters, that's a different matter, but routinely you don't really need to be studying that far into the night.
