Can someone get a first round offer even though they are below the clearly in rank or is this just for second round?

So from this question above, we can't get an offer ? E.g. the clearly in rank for UoM science is 91.95 and I got 89 or anything lower, will u still be able to? Because I saw over 40% are below the clearly in rank for this course. Thanks :P

Thats not a very big difference (2.95), you would probable get in. It really actually depends. Each course has a certain number of offers the uni is willing to give to year 12 students. The number of offers that UoM is giving to yr 12 student in the first round (according to VTAC) is 1768. If all of them got the clearly in or over then they would be the ones that would get in. However if lets say half or 3 quarters of those applicant got the clearly in than the remaining places will be given to those who were close to the clearly in or whatnot. But don't worry, your chances with a little difference like that is pretty high, not to mention that UoM will also offer 1837 for the second round offers. :) Good luck!

Oh thanks for your reply !! So that just means that 40% of 1768 students are below clearly-in ATAR for the first round ?

^ according to that, your ATAR will have to be at least 24.78% (~70) under the clearly in to be eligible for the first round offers.

Someone I know got 80.50 and got in since he had SEAS. He is studying BSc at UoM with me now. On the other hand, there was someone in my school who got 89.50 and didn't get in because they didnt have SEAS.

I think it refers to % of people under the clearly in ATAR. Opps I thought it's 40%.

Nope :( . Are u sure all those are SEAS applicants ?? That actually means lots of people apply for it

Are u serious ???  :o  :o that's unfair because the other one got so much higher.
What if my prerequisite for eng/ESL did not fulfil by only 1-2 SS but my ATAR was like 93+ compared to 91.95  . Possible?

I don't know if thats possible without SEAS. Have you applied for an alternative access scheme like SNAP (rmit), SALT (La trobe) or Access Melbourne (Mebourne uni)?

Pretty sure most of that proportion are SEAS applicants. I would say that some without SEAS get into the course if they miss out by like 0.5 ATAR or something. Yeh I would say that is entirely possible. But, just wait til your ATAR comes out first, no point predicting scores for the course you need without an ATAR.
Also keep in mind that the clearly in ATAR fluctuates from year to year, so it may even drop this year or possibly rise.

Nope. Life sucks now... Should have applied for it. SALT, SEAS etc  have closed yeah?
Btw just a quick ques, I saw some scholarships are still available for applying at latrobe(not sure for rmit etc) but I thought the closing data was in like October 14?? Thanks!

Ah that sounds better even if there's a slight chance. That's just my worst case scenario , I hope it won't be that low then! Thanks!

I know that SALT is already closed, pretty sure you can't apply for SEAS anymore but i could be wrong and SNAP you dont apply for, your teachers nominate you (you could ask them?).
Yeah some scholarships don't get updated so they still remain the same. Though there are still a bunch that are open right now:

Ah thanks ! Will look up Rmit too because I'm sure monash scholarship has closed. How can I apply for those that are still available then?

With every scholarship info link there should be a 'how to apply' section there.
