DUX?
« on: December 17, 2013, 06:46:42 pm »
Was anyone on here able to dux any subjects? If so, which subject?

I'm so excited that I duxed psychology, i really worked hard for it.

Next year at assembly they will ask me to give a tip to the students stepping into vce and lower year levels, what should I say?!

Not trying to boast or anything, I'm just really happy because I never thought I was capable!

Congratulation! Maybe tell students how you studied psychology, sharing some study tips etc?

Definitely 40+, it really depends on the subject. Some were even 50 :)

How about your school?

My school's similar, for subject "prize winners" based on sacs and the trial exam, it generally varies between 40-50. But that person tends not to get the highest study score because a lot of pro kids just ceebs studying for something that doesn't affect their grades.
I just feel awks when people brag about duxing with quite low scores in we'll say quite weak schools. Not that I'm saying you're bragging at all or that 30 isn't a respectable score!

My school's dux was only 95.4. Pretty low ATAR for a dux, but still good.

I was expected to dux methods and specialist, I was hoping to dux physics and software, I had no idea that I would dux english as well as all 4 of those (guess it was a bad year for english at my school, we usually perform far better in terms of 40+ scores).
I managed to get the highest ATAR with 99.8 too, so I was overall dux as well. Usually it's in the 99's, my friend got ripped off because he would have been dux most years with 99.2 but I was there this year.
I have to come back and give a speech next year too, about how to be a successful student and stuff.
ATAR 99.80 :: Methods [50] | Physics [50+Premier's] | Specialist [47] | Software [48] | English [42] | Legal [39 '12]

I was the overall dux of my school. :) In terms of subjects, I'm technically outright dux only for Biology. However, I share subject dux for Chemistry, Mathematical Methods (CAS) and Specialist Mathematics. Someone did better than me in English (they absolutely deserved it though - I'm still shocked at my own English result, as I am with every result).

Try to give them the best advice possible for succeeding in the subject, and useful tips. I duxed Legal, but to be honest, I was expecting at least a 47 (not trying to complain! I still got a ridiculously high ATAR)

Congratulations.
