I think you should simply try and find the fastest available path to medicine, because from what you've said, you basically want to be a doctor.

Your best chance is to devote your energies where your passion lies, and compete for a place in medicine without the distraction of trying to keep a legal career going at the same time.

I live closer to Melbourne University and Clayton is out of my way so I would have to be seeking accomodation but that brings the dilemma of extra costs.

In my opinion, you'll be far better off at UoM, simply because of the benefits you'll get from a closer uni (less time spent on travel=more time on studies, generally haha), taking accomodation would only increase the financial burden on yourself or your parents which isn't highly recommendable.

The GAMSAT is probably going to be very difficult, but knowing that you've qualified for biomed (98+ ATAR) means that you're a very capable student, although you'll probably still have to try very hard in the future to pass that.
