For mid year transfers, theres a 50% weighting on your GPA and ATAR. After you've completed a year at university, I'm pretty sure your ATAR becomes irrelevant and they only look at your GPA.

Always choose the course before selecting the uni. Nothing worse than being stuck in a course you dont like because your transfer fails. Plus melbourne DOES NOT give priority for internal students; both apply through VTAC.

Agree on the above^ You're better to chose Comm at UoM as your first preference, then Comm at Monash at second and transfer. If Comm is what you want to do then you have a better chance of getting good in Comm units than Arts to meet the GPA needed.
