(You may be able to tell I'm freaking out a tad for Monday), But could somebody estimate a rough study score for me if my GA1 & GA2 were both A+'s and my exam was an A or low A+?

Thanks in Advance,
Good luck for Monday fellow biologists :)

A+ on exam=40+
So, you're looking around the high 30s-low 40s range :)
Best of luck to you too :)

Hi winchesteraddict here :)
I shall carry on this thread for another year  8)
Ok, so a question: Do we have to know apoptosis and Necrosis for biology?

You don't need to know about necrosis but you'll need to know a little bit about apoptosis- the three major steps involved in apoptosis, what causes apoptosis and obviously what apoptosis is. :)

Though you probably won't be asked much about it. I mean, I'm starting my third year at Uni next year and I still don't know half of that. (though that's probably just incompetence)

The NOB textbook covers what you need to know about apoptosis nicely. Definitely know the definition--> programmed cell death

Hey guys ill be completing year 11 next year and doing biology 3 and 4. Are there any tips you could give me in regards of how to study and keep on top of things. How much time should i devote to bio in comparison to other 1 and 2 subjects? Also what would be the marks i should be aiming to achieve to get a study score of at least 40. I would love a study score higher then 40!!
Don't worry about scores that you can't change  because there are so many more productive things you could do

Looking for customisable high school tuition that fits your needs? Or maybe you're just looking for some help with a specific concept that doesn't require frequent tuition. Study more for biology of course. Use the study design as efficiently as possible. :)

Personally, I think you should devote more time to 3+4 bio than to your 1+2 subjects. However, in saying that, the degree of devotion depends on which subjects you're doing- if you're doing chem, for example, you'll want to focus on 1+2 chem too.
I received a 40+ SS for bio purely due to my love for the subject. I focused on thoroughly understanding the content and augmenting my knowledge by watching youtube videos (bozeman science, crash course, khan academy), listening to podcasts (douchy's), looking at images of processes on google, using this atarnotes thread ;) and, of course, by reading my textbooks/additional resources. Attending the TSFX head start lectures for both units 3 and 4 was also incredibly helpful. With biology, I think that using as many resources as possible is key! You'll need to understand and remember the fundamentals.
My SAC marks were as follows:
Unit 3- 94%
Unit4- 97%

Above all, remember to enjoy the subject! Good luck :)

great advice!
Just a word of warning tho- the competition for bio is increasing - this year (2014) the a+ mark was 87%, which is crazy high haha... and so to get a 50 u legit needed like 100%...
but yeh if you put your mind to the subject and really enjoy it, you will defintely get the score you want!
good luck to class of 2015!

yes, cannot stress how important this is to  follow the study design. I spent days and days trying to understand negative feedback, homestatic mechanisms (and still don't really understand it tbh :P,) and it's not even on the study design haha... the study design will definelty need to become one of your best friends:P
