By reading it (no shit).  Then you can write notes and answer textbook questions.
I meant entire book!

It is helpful to finish the course early (By early-mid term 3) but not too early ;D (Like start of the year)

Thats just my opinion because there are a few people I know that literally finished methods on the holidays.... got really cocky and then ended up getting a poor score. The people who score the highest work hard throughout the year.

By finishing the course early.... it's really easy to disregard what the teacher is saying and just chill because you already know it... this can quickly turn into a bad habit that will come back to bite you come exam time.

Everyone is different so just stick with what you are comfortable with and what you think is best for you. Just make sure that if you finish the course early it does not mean you are finished, you need to keep revising and studying!

Also by working too far ahead and hard in the beginning you risk burning out. (Although some people say its a myth, I've witnessed people that have just lost all motivation and did nothing the few weeks before exams because they finished the course like in Term 1) You need to be at your best and at your most motivated a few weeks before exam time. That is why make sure you pace yourself although it may be helpful to get a leg up these holidays... you NEED to relax!

How can you finish the course mid term in term 3?  When you have sacs coming?

Same answer regardless.

So do you recommend reading the entire book over the holidays?

Most schools actually finish the course by the end of T3. If you have been working consistently throughout the year and do not fall behind, it's very doable to finish 4-5 weeks before your school does.

I don't understand why people go to far ahead?  If i just focus on what sac at a time is that a smart way to approach things?  Cause i want rank 1 in my cohort and if i start looking ahead and don't get number 1 in my cohort cause i was reading units 4 when i should be studying for A0S2 then i'd look like a total idiot.

Finishing early in order to smash the exam can be done alongside doing well in SACs.

I didn't say that? Do whatever works for you. Normally the first area of study or two are a good start.

Sacs are important by no where as important in comparison to Exams.
You could do poorly in sacs and smash exams and still get a pretty good score (Well this kinda depends on your cohort)
But if you have smashed your sacs but did poorly in exams you won't get a good score.

Finishing a little early can be really helpful as it allows you more time to do practise exams and really hammer down on exam revision.

If i rank 1 in my cohort and do shit in exams but someone gets 95% don't i get their score?

Just for your sac, but take heed that they can still scale your sac scores according to your exam performance.

For spesh, I averaged low 60% in my school but i got an A+ for my sac grade.
I had another friend who averaged low 60% but he got B+
So I guess your exam performance does affect your sac scaling to a certain extent.

Just like biology as well, I averaged low 70s, got an A+
Another averaged low 70s, got a B+

So don't think doing well in sacs put you in a very good position.
Ultimately, it's always the exam.

So for biology,  I had a friend who got 100%, 90%s but ended up with a 39.
I on the other hand, averaged 70s & got a 45. Definitely, exams make a whole lot of difference.

I always thought that sac score equates to the ranking of exam scores.
So if you are ranked first your sac score will always be the highest in your cohort despite of individual exam performance?

I think that's an oversimplification...
There's more than that, but I don't really know how to explain & I'm not entirely sure either.

So if you're rank 1 sac, rank 3 exams, maybe that's fine. There's not a major discrepancy and so yes, that simplified way can be applied.
But if you're rank 60 sac, rank 5 exams, then your sacs definitely get scaled up.

The bottom line is this:

Shit sacs + shit exam = shit score
Good sacs + shit exam = shit score
Good sacs + good exam = good score

:)
