Is it okay to not do anything for 1&2 subjects and focus on 3&4 instead? I heard that people even skip some of their 1&2 classes..

Units 1/2 help with the foundation for 3/4, and for some subjects like Chemistry and methods it's extra important though not always necessary. Don't slack off with your year 11 subjects still try to do well but if you are accelerating then sometimes you will have to prioritise. I've completed one subject without 1/2 and it was hard at first but it didn't take too long to catch up, I'm also doing two subjects this year without doing them last year. Some teachers give  extra work to catch up as well but if you are motivated then it's fine. Just don't go into this year thinking that you will make up for slacking in your 1/2 subjects because that's the worst thing you could do.

I don't think it's a good idea to bludge with any subject, especially if you're intending to do it as a 3/4.
But if what you mean is to put less effort compared to other subjects, then yes, I guess you could do that

Well it really depends on the subject. (Although I would advise against it because preparing for all your subjects helps you in preparation for Y12)... but for Psych 1/2 I didn't really do anything all year but in saying that the 3/4 course is totally different.

Closer to your 3/4 exam time I think it's ok to neglect your 1/2 to focus solely on that 3/4, but throughout the year I would recommend keeping up with your 1/2 course and just doing the work that is set/ required.
*** Definitely pass your 1/2 tests/ exams to a good level (NOT FAIL) because if you end up doing poorly in your 1/2 subjects, your school might not let you do it in Y12.

@nerdmmb

I personally would not neglect the 1/2 subjects. Sure the 3/4 subject/s take priority as they do contribute to your aggregate, however I would recommend attempting your best at all subjects, not have the mindset that you have to work harder in one than the other. It's a good way of thinking for when you actually reach Year 12 and they all are priority-subjects.

I would definitely not recommend skipping classes either.

Thank-you all! I really appreciate it.
Guess I'll have to invest equal effort in every subject :D

I'm going to let you know what I did.

I did two year 12 subjects in 2013: Biology and Further Mathematics. I had to do Biology 3/4 outside my school (at Kangan TAFE instead) because there was an insufficient number of students in year 11 wanting to do Biol 3/4, for my school to run this accelerated Biology class. Every Monday after school, from 5:30-9:30, I would attend a Biology class 20 mins from home. In addition to this, I had Further Maths, which was at school. In addition to these two year 12 subjects, I did English, Chem, Methods and Physics.

A ratio of year 11 to year 12 I had was this for subjects:

English to 3/4s:
1:9

Methods to 3/4s:
4:6

Chem to 3/4s
6:4

Physics to 3/4s:
0:10

As you can see, I didn't put in 100% to year 11. I had to sort out my priorities. In saying that, even though I wasn't putting in a lot of effort into my 3/4s, I was still getting really high marks in class, about 90%+ in SACs, etc. What I'm trying to say, is that you need to look at what you are capable of doing. For me, personally, I found that I could invest less time in 1/2s and still get those good results, whilst prioritising and investing 85% of my energy and effort into my year 12 subjects.

I regret doing nothing for Physics though. Nevertheless, I am taking Physics one step at a time, and I think all I need to work on is the motion section, because I actually studied in unit 1 when we looked at Electronics, so fingers crossed I can get through 3/4 Physics.

Thank-you Yacoubb :) Sounds like a great idea.
I'm planning on doing that too considering I have not even done the unit 1&2 course of either of my 3&4 subjects..
All the very best though!! :P
