Hey Bark,

Great to see your enthusiasm by making a post regarding your learning - very proactive! So props on that

I'm doing the same, and in regards to your question, do whatever you feel is necessary. For me, I'm just doing our schools set holiday homework. Also, I'm familairising myself with content from the first few chapters - not too indepth though!! Might want to add in a few extra questions if you think its necessary to grasp the content.

Its not to much an advantage going ahead as everyone is going to catch up to you eventually. So for an advantage, just do the above until you feel confident. Do you remember you'll properly learn this in school.

Good luck!! :D

Hey, Thanks for the feedback. I think i will do that, i had that in mind from the start but i was contemplating because i thought others might do more then me.

Our school set holiday HW was just index laws and scientific notation and worksheets on Radioactivity. Is this sufficient?

May i ask what your school set HW was?

cheers

Doing the set holiday HW should be enough. You will not have radioactivity again in unit 3 and 4 (hence not in the exam) and other topics would be repeated again in year 12 (hence starting early would be boring (facing the same sh*t for 2 years?!)) VCE physics is bad, so don't waste too much time on unit 1 and 2 :)

No worries, glad it was some help :)

Yes, that should be sufficient. Its not too much, but a good basic introduction
Perhaps you may want to read chapter one and two. That'll be on nuclear physics I'm assuming.

Anyhow, if I'm being honest, our class got no physics holiday homework. Though after asking the teacher for some stuff to keep me occupied and have a head start, he just said read and complete chapter one. Nothing much really.

Hmm that's different to mine (although our Physics 1&2 is pretty different LOL)
Our school set holiday homework has been about Density and Pressure so I've missed out on index law, science notation and Radioactivity :P
Although just asking... what textbook for Physics are you guys using?

Apologies for the spelling, but Hieneman Physics 1/2

Ah so you're using Heinemann Physics.... our school made the change in using Physics 9th Edition but I haven't seen other schools use the textbook before so I don't know if it's a good textbook as such (it's filled with lots of questions and good examples I understand though)...

I haven't dwellled too much into it. From the brief reading I've done, it does have some good theory, sometimes a bit too in depth. Though I reckon a lack of good questions.

Well in class we looked at fluids (specifically at Archimedes Principle) but I don't think it was related to Physics 1&2 or 3&4 to be exact. More to just get our heads jogging for Physics really...
And questions about density/pressure were pretty much related to Archimedes (displacement) but yeah nothing too serious...
And I'm using Physics 9th Edition by Cutnell and Johnson but it's Chapter 11 in the book :)

alright that sounds good. Did you guys touch on radioactivity anything like that. And apparently you guys do computational which is physics + spesh? correct

No nothing on radioactivity and yes you are right where we have the option of combining two subjects into one (in this case Computational Physics being Spesh + Physics 1&2 combined). Of course you can do these subjects separately if you wish.

We briefly went through radioactivity during head start week, and then we were subsequently given that chapter as holiday homework.

I'm not going to do any more than that, as I'd rather focus on more important subjects :p (I think a few here would concur)

what are you classifying as your more important subjects?
