you could move linear algebra to first semester since it really doesnt require any calc2 knowledge at all and take engmath in sem 2. you only are required to take 5 first year sciences after all. :) and that allows you to take more engineering related second and third year subjects overall.

Would the stress/workload of Linear Algebra & Calc 2 in 1st Semester be too much ? And is Engineering Math going to make me cry ?
Otherwise i would srsly consider it. I don't want to die first year.

I did Lin Alg and Calc 2 in the same semester (along with biology and ESD2) and it was fine.  And I'm not naturally gifted at maths.  I put in a lot of hours though.

Can anyone recommend me a Sem 1, non-commerce, non-math level 2 breadth? Preferably one that has low contact hours and doesn't have marks awarded for tutorial participation

Guys, I was just browsing here when I saw someone mentioning EDS1. :o I know I have to register to ask.

Is it actually compulsory for those who are interested in engineering? Or whether you can just skip it?

Not compulsory.

Ah okay thanks for the info. Do you personally recommend it to first year student though? I'm interested in EE and Civil but I just don't want to encounter Bio or Chem again.

I'm an Arts student with no interest in Engineering haha, not your best source. I do have quite a few friends that have done ESD 1 that didn't like it (or even despised it). Have heard good things about ESD 2 though.

Ah sorry I didn't read your sig. Truth be told several years ago I also wanted to enroll in art course. (Digital Art preferably)

Well I think from reading the review in student union website and some other reviews and recommendation here, I'm seriously considering dropping out ESD1. I just don't know what I should take as an alternative to fulfill the credits reqs. Maybe a computer course instead? But then every class may already be full today.

Do COMP10001 with me! And don't worry about classes being full, only 80% of spots have been released, and a further 20% will be available in a second release at 10am, 24th February (at least I'm pretty sure that's how it works).
ATAR: 99.95
Specialist 50 | Methods 50 | Physics 50 | Further 49 | Literature 48 | Music Style/Composition 41

2014 - 2016: Bachelor of Science (Chancellor's Scholars' Program) at The University of Melbourne

I will be tutoring in Melbourne this year. Methods, Specialist, and Physics. PM me if you are interested :)

Yep, that's how it works.
Except for me, one of my subjects doesn't have a second release. Sigh. This is why second years fight for tutorial spots.
