Hey guys! I'm planning to do a diploma in french but I don't really want to add one more year to my degree :/ I heard that you can finish it in 3 years however? How could i do this, considering that I'll enter at entry point 5? Thanks in advance :)

Take intensives over summer and overload a couple of your semesters to squeeze everything into three years.

You won't be able to take any intensives (if you started at entry point 1, yes), save for maybe one intensive onsite (mini-exchange). So you'll have to overload.

I'm looking to do the exact same thing, a DipLang in French over only 3 years, starting at Entry Point 5!

Although there aren't (m)any French subjects that can be fast-tracked, there are definitely breadth subjects that can be and possibly some from your course itself (eg arts, commerce, science, biomed).
here is a useful list of those fast-track-able subjects: http://arts.unimelb.edu.au/arts-student-centre/options/intensive-subjects

My thinking is to choose my breadth subjects for second and third year, where i'll be taking 5 subjects per semester, mostly from this list, and look to fast-track them over the holidays. That way it won't be necessary to overload throughout the actual semester.

edit: noted that there is only one French subject, a Level 2 or 3 called 'In the Heart of the Loire Valley' (https://handbook.unimelb.edu.au/view/current/FREN20020) that is permitted for Entry Point 5 which can be fast-tracked.
It literally takes place in the Loire Valley, in France. ha
