Is it possible to do just 1 Breadth subject in my first year in B.comm?

So I'll be starting my Bachelor of Commerce this year and since I've never actually done anything to do with it, I'm looking to keeping my options open. The double majors I'm considering are: Finance/Accounting, Marketing/Finance and Marketing/Accounting. Lately I've also started looking into Economics.

I've basically got my subjects down pat, but the thing is, in order to keep my options open, I need to do: ACCT10002 (Introductory Financial Accounting), MKTG10001 (Principles of Marketing), ACCT10001 (Accounting Reports and Analysis) and ACCT10003 (Accounting Processes and Analysis).

That's 4 subjects, and with 3 compulsory subjects already, I can only fit in 1 breadth subject. So, is it possible to do just one breadth subject in my first year? Or is there some other way I can do this without having 4 core subjects.

No, it doesn't matter when you do your breadths, as long as you do them at one point.
I only took one breadth in my first year as well. I have a friend who's finished first year and is yet to have taken a single breadth.  XD

I'm not 100% sure on what the course requirements are for BCom now, but be very careful when you plan your course structure particularly if Acct/Fin is one of your preferred double majors. To gain full accreditation you need to follow a very rigid structure. Be sure to check with a course adviser first and get the ok from them to be 100% sure.
Otherwise, it's fine to only take 1 breadth in 1st year. It doesn't matter when you take them. You can take Business Finance in S2 1st year if you'd like, I know quite a few people who did that. Also, that remaining unit you have for 1st year will probably have to be Principles of Business Law - which is a breadth.

I took no breadths last year. And eight science subjects... 24 contact hours FTW!

Again, make sure you read the requirements of your degree/major carefully.

Also, at least for BSc students, if you want to take zero breadths you'll need to talk with the student centre to get the last subject onto your study plan. There's no approval process, but the system is a bit stupid and they need to add the last subject in manually.

 You should probably choose PBL as your first year breadth.  Then if you eventually choose Accounting & Finance, then you can do Corp Law and Tax Law 1 in your subsequent years.
