Tutes before lectures?

Working on my uni timetable and wondering if it matters if you have a tute on a day before a lecture of the same subject/unit?

Thanks

It doesn't matter so much, but a tutorial consolidates lecture knowledge so I personally wouldn't unless you have to.

Depending on how it's scheduled - tutorials may discuss/build on lectures from the previous week as well, so i'd check up on that.

I don't think it matters much. I guess it really depends on which course you are doing and what tutor you have. Sometimes tutors just repeat everything taught in the lecture and others would focus on something else.

The tutes usually cover material from the previous week. The idea is that you go to the lecture, have a week to study the content and then answer questions in the tutorial during the following week.

When I first started uni I took such considerations into account but now I just choose my timetable based on convenience.

Are tutes run by students or professors?

Usually Monday (sometimes Tuesday) tutes will cover material from the prior week, and Thursday/Friday tutes tend to review the current week. Having a tute between two lectures during the same week is the worst. For example a Tuesday/Wednesday morning tute when you have Monday and Wednesday arvo lectures. But otherwise, not such a big deal.

Yeah that looks good. At least that way you have your lectures first, then have a tutorial to consolidate knowledge afterwards. So far so good.

Mostly students, sometimes professors or academics, depending on the subject

Unusual for that to be undergrad students though, except in Commerce where it's the norm. In Arts (and Science as far as I know) you have to be doing your PhD (very occasionally Masters) in order to be hired as a tutor.

As said, usually covers the week before. If not, they're not dumb, they don't have rocks in their head and will realise you haven't been to the lecture yet and organise accordingly. Depending on the area (this is especially true for science labs) it might only be kind of tangentially related to your current topic and you can definitely manage without having seen the lectures if you've done your readings.
