Is it a good idea doing three math units in first year?

I plan to do mth1020, mth1030 and mth1830

I think you mean MAT1830?

If you enjoy maths then you should be alright, I did 4 maths units in first sem 2013 (second year), as well as an engineering unit (overloading... don't do that but that's another story). I found it alright, but that was because I enjoyed most of it (bar linear algebra and stats).

MAT1830 isn't too bad, it was a nice break from my other units, the weekly assignments get annoying after a while though.

The other good thing about maths units is that they're normally a little bit lighter than say a chem or physics unit, as they won't have a lab but a 1 or 2 hr tute.

I did 3 maths units last year (MTH1030, MTH2010, ASP2062) Quite manageable if you enjoy them. But these units have down sides as well. The first project for 1030, a test per fortnight for 2010 and tedious computer labs for 2062.

You should be fine in the first year
