How important are SACs for methods? What score am I looking at?

Hey guys ! I was just wondering if anyone on here knows how much SACs affect your methods score? Ive done heaps of work for the first sac but i am still not confident, i think i will get very low ~50% for this one, but can probably get around 80's and 90's in the rest, id be around the top 40%ile in a super strong cohort
with 1 or 2 one off really bad sac scores, and around B or C+ in the exams, what sort of score am i looking at?

Depends how your sacs are moderated.

Last year i got an A  for my sacs, exam 1 and exam 2 and received a study score of 41 raw.

If your looking for a 40  raw, I'd say you need at least 2 A's or higher than that.
as for your sac scores, a 60-70% is still fine! It sometimes gets pushed up, but i really depends

@cyu: you can edit your posts to clean them up instead of triple posting.

I actually had a friend who got 3 A's for their GA's and ended up with a study score in the mid 30's. You could get 3 A+'s and not get a 40.

If you are in a super strong cohort, your SAC's will most likely be moderated upwards slightly, which may help you for your first GA. Honestly though, the exams make the biggest difference in maths subjects as the SACs are only worth 33%. The exams decide how your SAC's will be moderated and contribute to 66% of your study score.

Try your best in SAC's but don't worry too much if you're not rank 1 (especially in your cohort), your exam score will always be your own exam score so you can still score highly just from exam performance.

As for an estimated score, I'd say low to mid 30s with a B or C+ in exams. But I'm not the best at predicting study scores =o

If you go to a select entry school you can get B+s, no problem, and still do well. I got B+ for my first bio SAC last year and finished with a 48 (granted, bio has about 10 SACs so that might've played a role).

edit: actually yeah, methods SACs are calculated over the whole year anyway, so you can afford to mess up a SAC. Exams are more important.

^^ from psyxwar, method SACs aren't too crucial from what i've heard.

A friend of mine had B+/A SACs for most of the year, was ranked around 25-30 in a cohort of 150-200 students, ended up acing the exams with dual A+ for E1 and E2, and resulted in a 46 raw for methods.

Whereas another had high A+ SACs for most of the year, ranked top 5, got an A for E1 and ended up with 45 raw.

Really depends!

We have a Test which accounts for 10% of SAC score, then we have a Application task which accounts for 40% of our SAC score (this is Unit 3).

so this first sac is worth 10% of 33%? so 3.33% of my total methods score, ya?

It doesn't work like that exactly...if you recovered to rank 1 in your later SACs then the first SAC would really have had no effect on your study score.

And at a selective school cohort my grades averaged from UG (got like 1/24 lol) to A+, but my ~C average was moderated by VCAA up to B+

oh sweet i think i will be like that so thats very reassuring !
just wondering if it isnt too personal - whats the process with getting a UG sac at 1 or 2/24? do you have to resit it to get the pass , but keep the score, or do you just go on to the next sac

There weren't any other consequences beyond me dropping quite low in my internal rank. My teacher knew that I was treating Methods as a bludge/bottom two subject. But I wouldn't really suggest this route, as despite rationally knowing I would be able the meet the maths prerequisite (getting a 25 is a joke imo) I needed, it added a lot of stress.

apparently if you get a UG or NS in english you dont get a study score, is that the same across all subjects or just english?
