Revolutions or psychology?

Hey guys,
So I just need a bit of advice as to whether I should do psychology or history? My current subjects are:
English 1/2
history 1/2
math methods 1/2
legal studies 3/4
chemistry 1/2
physics 1/2
I couldn't decide out of history (would do revolutions in year 12)or psychology and in the end I chose history, however, I've found that what we're doing at the moment is not that interesting, although I know that the 1/2 of history is really different to the 3/4. I've had a look at the study designs for psychology units 1-4 and revs and they both sound really interesting. History and psychology are in the same block at my school, so it's easy to just swap into psychology, but I don't know, I'm really not sure. I've heard that revs has a massive workload, so I'm a bit cautious about that as well. I will confess that I am more of a sciencey person than a humanities person, but I do find history quite interesting
Anyway, what do you guys recommend? Should I do history or psychology?

Hi thechicken103,

If you're not interested or challenged by Year 11 History, and you find the Psychology Study Design more interesting than Revolutions, and your interests are in the Sciences rather than the Humanities, then you should probably be opting for Psychology. Based on what you've said here, and also your current timetable, I'd suggest you think about swapping over.

Cheers,

R.

I'm a humanities person and I dropped history 1/2 after receiving an HD in it and a UMEP place in it for psychology. It would be an absolute killer.

EDIT: Just a response to the person below me. Psychology you need essentially no scientific background or a liking for science. I *HATE* science like you wouldn't understand (my experience with grade 10 and below science class) but I love Psychology.

From my experience with History (units 1-4), doing well requires a large portion of your time actually doing extra reading. Doing even better involves mastering your writing (which I still suck at today). In the VCE setting, unless you are accelerating history in year 11, then time would be rather short as you have to juggle with the other subjects as well. But given your stance, if your thinking involves more of a scientific analysis, rather that a historical, go for psychology then.
I actually have no idea what I'm saying or talking about.

If I was in your situation I would pick history as that's what I'm taking this year in year 11. Units 3/4 mimic what is covered in 1/2 especially the Russian revolution if you have already studied it.

This is entirely your own choice but I suggest you choose what your most interested in as you will get higher marks if it's something you passionate about.

Your mention that what your doing in history now is boring by bear in mind that it's only a AOS and it will be over in a matter of weeks and you'll be moving onwards.

I hope that this helps you.
Good luck!
