Hey guys! ;D
Does anyone know the structure of a science essay? Because I have no clue, haha :P
is it just an intro, three paragraphs and a conclusion?? and is it supposed to be a discussion piece?
Hey,
From what I have heard, there is one essay that is prac type and one that is normal essay type, but you must discuss the question in scientific terms.
:D

Hey Fizzy,

Not sure if there is a formal structure you have to use, but currently I'm trying to cram as much information as possible into my practise essays. 3-6 body paragraphs are what I aim for, with an introduction and conclusion if I can come up with something historical/interesting :P. But yeah, feel free to do what you want, because it isn't a normal 'essay' so to speak :).
Hey guys, do any of you have an links to practice mathematics exam apart from the DEECD one?? LOL thanks :)

Feel free to PM me :D

I found this one a few days ago, not sure if it's any good or not :P - http://www.nap.edu.au/verve/_resources/Example_Test_Numeracy_Y9_calc.pdf
Also the non-calculator version - http://www.nap.edu.au/verve/_resources/Example_Test_Numeracy_Y9_non_calc.pdf
And this is NAPLAN stuff, but it might be helpful in increasing speed... https://www.qsa.qld.edu.au/naplan-numeracy-yr9.html

Hahaha thanks Hannibal :) However, they do seem a lot easier than JAC practice exam and perhaps even the DEECD one!! LOL i guess it's better than nothing.

Yeah NAPLAN is quite easy. Just work on timing with those exams and don't expect questions that easy on the actual exam. Apparently some of the worded questions (application type) are kind of similiar.

Others, please correct me if i am wrong  :D

Science communication - I am pretty sure is a prac or experiment style essay. Where you have you aim, hypothesis, materials etc. You must solve the experiment like you have just witnessed an experiment on it. (If that makes any sense lol) PM me if you want bit more help.

Science Interest - Similar to an english essay. Has intro, body, rebuttal (maybe) and conclusion. This is the most difficult piece because it expects you to know the topic. So pray that it is a topic you know haha! Its hard to study for but know your year 8 and 9 textbook well for this. Must have grammar, punctuation and other english aspects right for this part, because they also check your English skills here!

Science Communication can be a procedure/practical report, so familiarise yourself with the format. For Science Interest don't bother with a structure, just cram as much information as you can in 30 minutes, because that's probably that they are looking for :P. Do a few practise ones if you want, really makes you feel confident :D.

Title, Name, Partners, Date, Aim, Hypothesis, Materials, Method, Results, Conclusion :P.
Of course, if it isn't a practical report then you don't use that. What's yours?

For this exam, since we have not actually done the prac it is Title, Aim, Hypothesis, Materials, Method, Results (a table) or expected results, Discussion (if I know rlly well what happened and want to show off my knowledge  ;) ) and Diagram.

How would the procedure part go? I have never heard of that. I though one essay was always prac and the other was prior knowledge.

Not last year but the year before, I believe the topic was 'Write a speech about climate change' for the science communication, I think :P. And yeah, discussion/diagram are really good additions, thanks :).
