You'd be much better off advertising on Textbook Exchange.

Random fact: my accounting textbook is RAINBOW this semester XD

Anywayz... I trust you've made a pretty advertisement on Monash Marketplace as well, Costa?
I listed my stuff on there and I managed to sell everything except my microeconomics study guide.

If you wanna up your chances... make sure you check whether your textbook is used for any other course codes, and list all applicable course codes in the 'title' thingy.
Like... I'm pretty sure your marketing txtbook is also used for MKC1200 (does it have black and gold hard covers and seem abnormally heavy for a book of its size? >.<)

The ugly one with horrible hues of blue and green...? XD
(Hence why I'm celebrating RAINBOW ^_^)

Dude... practically everything about AFF1000 and AFC1000 was identical last semester... Clayton and Caulfield students even sat the same exam paper.

and maybe management? Ill have to go check.

I can't help you on this one, sorry... All I know is the txtbook I used last year is outdated and unsellable... it's been collecting dust on my shelf for quite a while now.

I just asked a friend... who asked her cousin (lol)... she says the first year management txtbook used at Clayton this semester is written by "Sampson and Daft" (as in MGC1010). Judging by your Caulfield course code, I would say that MGC1010 would be the equivalent subject... I doubt there would be any other subjects that use it..?

I hope this investigationing of mine has helped in any event, ha ha.

Ha ha... should I bring in some sort of talk about how the determinants of price levels in a free market are demand and supply, etc, etc..? ;D

Perhaps u should b selling ur txtbooks really cheap after all, Costa :P

LOL... nah not necessary.

In this situation I think it's just sellers being really bad businessmen. Most of these books are essentially new (covers are crisp and pages arent written on/highlighted) and they have paid a shitload for the book and then they just go and throw their book away for half price.

I think a better system than monash marketplace (which is fucken ridiculously primitive) would yield a higher return for sellers than currently. Buyers I think arent really attracted to using the system...

You'd probz find the majority of buyers still pay 50-100% more for their books (buy from the bookstore) rather than use the marketplace. And the excuse of 'convinience is pretty lame when you think about how easy it is to set up meeting someone at uni. I set up to sell one book and buy two books in a few short sms's.

The convience of the bookstore isnt worth 50%+ more than what 2nd hand sellers sell it for.

...

Oh and I'll just hold onto my books and wait til the rush selling my sellers which is flooding supply decreases which will increase the value of my book.

I dont actually think that supply is exceeding demand by a lot. I think that just on marketplace this is the case. Maybe we should be thinking of selling NOT on marketplace... I'm sure if you sat out the front of the bookshop and offered to sell your books $30 cheaper each to a perosn about to go in and buy those exact same books theyd JUMP at the thought.

Marketplace= fail

ha fair point costa but like if everyone on monashmarket is selling cheaper than you, everyone is gonna buy the other ppls books, and if there 8 ppl wanting books and there is 9 advertisements and you might be left with no one wanting to buy your books.

Nah quite a few price their books at a similar price to me. There actually some people who realise that sellin their books so ridiciuculously cheap when the bookshop sells over a hundred of each book for much more is a really stupid idea.
Some just go crazy and offer like 40 bucks less than everyone else LOL
