To anyone that has done biology and done well, do you suggest doing chapter by chapter summaries and notes? that is what the teacher has suggested but it's time consuming and I'm sure theres a better way of revising just don't what it is yet…

Thanks in advance for the help!

I definitely suggest writing notes, especially ones that address each dot point of key knowledge on the study design!
(one of my biggest regrets was not making notes)

If you find that it doesn't work for you and is too time consuming, then find a different way to revise
eg; watch videos such as crash course, khan academy or listen to podcasts, draw concept maps, write study cards, etc.

See what works for you personally rather than what is more suited to other students

I made notes for unit 3 AOS1 and I haven't actually used it yet because I found that summarising the concepts then repeating them really helped me understand it.

Do what helps you learn best. Personally, I'd suggest making notes (albeit it's a bit time-consuming) but really worth it! It enables you to deeply study each concept which becomes second nature to you once it's repeated at school.

Good Luck !

I tried making notes, and it was a gigantic waste of time. I rather prefer reading through all the content first and integrating them into my knowledge through practicing questions from past exams, checkpoints and other study guides. But, do what's best for you - it's all about trialling and experimenting. Good luck!

This method worked for me personally.

Writing notes will probably be effective, looking back, I could've scored higher if I actually invested time to it. But don't spend excessive amounts of time on it. If you're going to summarise, do it effectively and efficiently. Don't mindlessly copy down dot points word-for-word. Think about them. Draw conclusions from them. Reorganise everything - make flowcharts, tables, etc. Don't spend too much time summarising what's outside the scope of the study design.

Spamming practise questions is a must though, it was what I did throughout the whole of 3/4 bio and I still did pretty well.
