A/A+

I wouldn't usually make a new thread for a question like this but there isn't really a general question for english in particular.

My oral presentation I did terribly due to preparing last minute and having an irrational fear of public speaking (or standing in the middle of a classroom infront of people) and I got a 12/20 which was very low compared to my schools cohort. That means as I've already dropped 8 marks I will be on 92/100 from just the first assessment, and without a doubt after my first few essays I will definitely drop more than 8 marks for the rest of the unit or multiple assessments.

Does that mean it will essentially be impossible to get an A+ or am I missing something? Also what mark out of 30 for your essays should you be aiming for for exam standards to get a 40?

Ultimately your study score depends on how well you do in your exam.
So don't worry to much if you didn't do well in your oral, it's about 5% of your score.
You should be aiming for a 17-20/20 for your essays, to get an A
Good luck!

First thing I'll say is relax.

I was in a similar situation in year 12, I got a C+ for my English oral (I even prepared a LOT and felt the result was very unjust). Anyway, I got an A+ for my next SAC, giving me an overall B+ grade for those 2 sacs. I got my statement of marks at the end of the year. Guess what my SAC marks for unit 3 were? 100/100. Not even kidding. So it definitely doesn't mean you lost 8 marks overall. All it means is that you are at a slight disadvantage compared to the rest of your cohort at the moment, your goal should be to climb back up the rankings by smashing the rest of the written sacs for unit 3.

If you prepare well enough, everything else should work itself out. Put it out of your mind and focus on smashing the next sac.
