We are using phenol red in our sac as an indicator. It turns pink in a basic solution and yellow in a acidic solution.

What would you expect to happen to the colour of pond water and indicator when a water plant is actively photosynthesising. Justify your answer

Please help ASAP

Also why would you wrap aluminium foil around the culture tubes instead of putting them in a dark place ?

Carbon dioxide can react with water to form carbonic acid. The greater the concentration of carbon dioxide in the pond water, the greater the concentration of carbonic acid, and the more acidic it will be. The plant will take up dissolved carbon dioxide from the pond water as it photosynthesises, decreasing the concentration of carbonic acid in the pond water (and therefore decreasing its acidity). The pH of the pond water will progressively increase, indicated by a colour change to pink
