Aspirin SAC - YIELDS???

Hey guys!
I was just wondering who out of you wonderful folk had performed the Aspirin SAC already this term. I did the experiment (salicylic acid with ethanoic anhydride) this week in class and have the write up to do on Monday. My question is roughly what should my final yield equal? I've played around with some figures in my own time and seem to get numbers in the range of 65% to 75%? I don't remember my final mass to know for sure, although I was interested in what other people had got and how appropriate this yield might be...

Hiiii :)
I did the same prac on Tuesday and I got a 12.4% yield. So way different to yours :/
The final mass I got was approx 12 g but it seems wrong as we only used 3.00g of salicylic acid.

Oh that is REALLY different... We only used 1.5g of Salicylic acid against 5ml ethanoic anhydride though...

That's a good %. I got 75% I think and that might be a bit higher than expected % since the industrial average is only 65% (i think, it was last term when I did the SAC ahhah, someone correct me if it's wrong). My friend got 300% and he still got a 25/26, it doesn't matter what % you get. You just need to discuss what factors resulted your yield.

Oh, that makes me feel a little better. On our criteria sheet for this sac we are marked on the accuracy of our yields. Only two marks for it, but when it is out of 25, the yield matters..
