EAL vs English

I read the study guides for each one but still have no clue on what is the difference between them. Which one is arguable harder and in what way? How are both examined? What type of thinking skills are needed for each one?

If you didn't know already, the major difference is that one is for students whose first-language is not English (English as an Additional Language), while the other is for students whose first-language is English.

Apart from that, I don't think there's too much of a difference. At my school, I believe EAL students do the same texts as English students.

Yeah, the main difference is just whether English is the student's first language or not. I did EAL last year and both Eal and English students are doing the same texts. One more difference is that Eal students are to do a note-form summary for the article in section C plus a language analysis. English gets scaled down but Eal gets scaled up if you achieved above 40. The marking criteria are almost the same but generally Eal markers are kinda more lenient in marking.

English language is different to EAL/ESL (English as an additional language=english as a second language)
