Textual evidence for Views and Values?

Hi,
I have my SAC for Views and Values this friday and our text is In Cold Blood by Truman Capote.
I was just wondering the best way to go about learning textual evidence for this SAC? I don't necessarily want lots of narrow evidence because it might not fit (we get given a passage as a starting point to discuss the views and values), so I was thinking like classifying examples under broad concepts in the text (e.g. capital punishment, murder, mental illness etc).

Anyone have any better suggestions? Thanks
