Has anyone started yet their bound reference/summary booklet for the Method Exam?
If so what type of book have you guys used for it?
How many pages so far?
Binded? Idk what other options there are :P

(For people like me, who haven't started, should we get on it ASAP?)

I just used my textbook as my bound reference for my methods and spesh :P Most of my friends used the 128 or 256 pages exercise book for their methods bound reference (not sure how many pages were filled up though)

I'll probably end up doing it with 140 pages! You used your textbook because you were that confident right? :P

Just remember, like with a lot of things Quality > Quantity. My bound reference was like 10-15 pages but it was filled with what I felt could be most useful in an exam - even though I didn't end up using it.

I want to re-iterate what Zealous said a million times. I saw people walking into methods exams with books that you could kill people with - my reference only had about 20 pages (if that?) written on. Definitely don't waste time writing your reference, and don't make it too big. If you have to exert effort to lift the thing, your reference is too big, hahah. Or maybe you're really weak from too much studying and not enough gym. :P

My school won't let you bring in the textbook to the exam rooms despite VCAA allowing it!
I wrote heaps of notes for SAC 1, but I still needa cover the other stuff I need, because I usually tend to re-write my notes, copy examples from the textbook plus add in random question and put in test results! :)

You have every right to bring it though? Not the best source however - according to many -

I didn't like using bound reference because it was a waste of time. I brought my textbook along because everyone else was carrying something.

Writing your own summary notes is definitely better than taking in a textbook as a bound reference. I agree completely, don't make note of unecessary info, just of important things you won't remember in the exam. I did methods 3 4 last year and know for a fact that you'll been oft more by making a 15-20 page summary book of your own. Trust me, there'll be no time to flip through hundreds of pages during the exam!

I find you get much more out of writing your bound reference (and picking formulas, examples etc.) than you do out of using it. Definitely write one, but you won't use it much when you actually get in there.

Yeah exactly what my teacher said! The textbook just wastes time in the exam apparently.

So basically its just a form of revision and memory retention than it being a reliable source for help?

Thanks for the replies guys!

Definitely good to have. Definitely not good to rely on it. :)

Nah our teacher said she'd rip up our paper if we did that, for SACs and the final exam lol

Your teacher's not allowed to be present in the final exam, so do what you want then. :P
