As the weeks lead up to the UMAT, we find more and more students become more confused and discouraged by their UMAT preparation, and this quickly results in a bigger problem than before. As such, it is important to simplify the UMAT early on.
We're about to start an intensive set of tutoring sessions in the first week of the holidays (28th June - 6th July) which would aim to get all the skills required for tackling the UMAT out of the way during this early period, giving you a chance to practice and build these skills in the weeks leading up to the UMAT.
Basically our sessions will be run based on the book, 'The UMAT Manual: A Systematic and Simplified Approach' (more information can be found here:
http://umatease.wordpress.com/essential-books/the-umat-manual-a-systematic-and-simplified-approach/). This book aims to give you a textbook-like understanding of the UMAT that will allow you to build foundational skills and strategies to tackle these questions.
We'll run both online and face-to-face sessions through this week.
Some basic details:
How many: 4-5 people is ideal. We've found from previous classes that friends work best together and it's easiest to coordinate these sessions with greatest flexibility - thus we'd recommend getting a group of friends together. However, we do have classes where we mix up the students - but these are harder to coordinate and less likely to suit everyone.
How much: $15-25/hr, depending on where and how many people
How it will run: 4-5 2-hr sessions would be the standard for the week; however, this can change depending on the group's needs. If you are organising a group of friends it will be completely up to you.
Where: Either online or in Monash Uni Caulfield/Clayton or State Library
