I went to the royal Melbourne show last week, it was really fun, I got to pet the goats. I have my classical studies exam in November, I really need to study. On the bright side I'll be a bit prepared for next year. [Hopefully]

aww really? that's so awesome, you know I've lived in melbourne for 17 years now and I have NEVER been to the Melbourne show! you're so lucky, what else do you do there??
Classical studies, I've never heard of it, don't think my school offers it.. is it a music or humanities subject?? Best of luck for your exam! Still got time, make it count! That's true, what other subjects are you taking?

I went onto two rides, one called the rock star, and the Ferris wheel, it is very calming if you aren't afraid of heights. I was able to get three show bags, my Mum, Sister and I considered going to do the bumper rides, but my sister and I have 'road rage', not to mention you never know who you might anger...  There was a Hollywood horrors, where characters from the horror movies jump out as you navigate the area, but I chickened out and didn't go in, since the last time I went, I ran out of there. Classical Studies is a humanities subject, I have to study the works of Homer, and several Greek sculptures. I am also taking English, Psychology, Legal Studies and Biology Units 1 and 2. I think I might drop Biology and not do it next year, I just don't have the patience for it anymore. Thankyou. Good luck with your exam too.

Humanities - it's mostly about Ancient Greece and their influence on things. Fun stuff ;)

When does everyone transition into Year 12? I think it's December 7th for me but I have some friends at another school transitioning November 16th.
November 26th, ending December 2nd, I think? Maybe not, seems a little odd to finish in the middle of the week.

Also, did any of you guys go the the lectures? I went to the Methods 1/2 and came back with some hella sweet signed notes.

sounds awesome, have to go one year :) I love ferris wheels actually but my sister never liked them when we were little haha! that's true, I've never done bumpers or anything like that haha. I hate anything scary!! could never handle it!
Oh right, historical stuff! I'm so bad at humanities, I'm taking all science haha! Biology is my best subject! Guess you're great at theory haha, I don't have the patience for the memory work..
Thank you very much :)

thanks for the details! I studied something similar (not in depth of course) at an extracurricular program in year 4, loved it but gosh it would be way too hard for me now!
November 26th is a Thursday so maybe you could finish on the 2nd, but you're right that is really strange!
They didn't have 1/2 lectures for any of my classes and tickets were sold out when I tried booking for the methods 3/4 so regretfully no! haha loving the notes, but I can't read the signature, who signed? Was the lecture good?

Spoiler
Anyone think the thread name "Class of 2016!!" doesn't look as formal as "Year 12 Class of 2015" What do you guys think?(you guys probably do not care at all) I mean 2 exclamation marks doesn't have a good look  :)
^

Guyssss is anyone still active on this thread?! How were everyone's holidays? Back at it tomorrow :)

How's everyone's prep for unit 3/4 exams whoever's doing them?? They're getting closer! I'm doing methods, haven't done much prep yet and freaking out haha.

Hope this thread comes back to life!
You got your wish!
My preparation for biology is going decently but you kinda never know.

I've only got 4 weeks left of year 11  :)
Then a two-week exam period then two weeks headstart(last years year 12's had 1)

Are you guys going to study for any of your 1/2 Sacs before you 3/4 exam?

Yeah that's true, where do you work?? My parents won't let me get a job til after year 12 exams.. Would be nice to get back into it, I feel like I never use my holidays productively, always feel like I'm wasting my time..
We finish exams late November and then we have one week of headstart year 12 in the first week of December. How long does your transition go for before holidays? Some people have a few weeks?! Good luck with all your studies for the term! :) ~~

I work at McDonald's. Nothing special but we have to start somewhere. It sucks that you're not allowed to get a job before exams, you might find it a bit tough with all the other Year 12's looking for a job! Maybe you could try volunteering instead? Especially if you're just looking for a way to fill up your holidays a bit. :)

We have exams early/mid November and then begin our transition on the 7th of December for two weeks. So we finish on the 18th of December. My old school transitions on the 16th of November and finishes on the 26th of November. Tad jealous of their headstart on Year 12!

Hi Sine!~ Nice to meet you :)
Haha I did, how lovely  ;)
oh wow you're accelerating bio, good luck! I've heard it's really hard to score in bio, I think the highest in my school's history is a 41 raw! All the best with your prep, I know you can never be sure, but at least with practice you'll get the confidence :)
4 weeks left?! That's insane, we only go back tomorrow! Good luck with your 1/2 exams as well! Everyone's school seems to have 2 weeks of year 12, we only do 1! what other subjects are you taking?

We have our exam period after the year 12 exams so I'm not doing any prep for them before my 3/4 exam, but if I've got sacs before then I will study, but might not put much effort in compared to the rest of the year..

also, regarding the name, I think Cult of 2016 was voted pretty high HAHA if anyone wants to offer an opinion??

It was Eulerfan - trust me, they'll be worth a lot one day. ;)

Eulerfan, been a lifesaver for everyone gosh, they will, heck I'd buy it!

McDonald's isn't bad, heard the pay isn't great but you're right, its a great stepping stone and easy to get the experience! I'm vegetarian though so I would really struggle to work in fast food. I fancied cafe/coffee shop sorts of things though :) Whereabouts are you working? Might come visit you one day, shout me some fries aye?  ;) ;) I know, I wish I could've worked in like year 9/10 because I don't really want to work through VCE, but yeah I have always wanted to volunteer, just never knew how to go about it.. help?! haha

So if you have exams in earlier November what are you doing after exams until transition?? we technically finish on I think the 4th I'll have to check, but then we have an award's night on around the 15th December which I usually go to (its the same people every year haha). As if your old school finishes so early! get like over two months of holidays haha, yeah but its only a couple of weeks so its not too bad!

I'm not a fan of fast food either but I work as a cashier so its not really a problem. I actually work as a casual so the pay isn't too bad. I get $15 p/h (part-time is a little over $11?). I didn't have any experience prior to getting the job so it was more a 'take what you can get' kind of thing but I'd like to work in a coffee shop as well. I'm hoping to apply to a cafe (Gloria Jeans tends to be quite good) sometime next year once I have a bit more experience with the cash register and whatnot so that I can hopefully work as a cashier and get trained up on the coffee machine when its quiet.

As for volunteering, depends where you want to go. Job search websites (Seek, Indeed) usually have a section for volunteering. I saw a few opportunities for the tennis and Royal Melbourne Show, so maybe you could try those next year? Otherwise, you could always try some local op shops (Salvo's, Vinnies, etc).

I moved to my current school in June, so I'm not quite sure how it works. All it says is:
Year 11 Examinations - 10th-18 November
Exam Review for all Year 11 classes and BBQ - 19th November
Year 12 Transition Program this week - 7th December

Hopefully will find out soon about what's happening! Would be nice if it was just a break between the 19th and 7th :P

oh you can do that?? that's good, didn't know actually, still don't think I'd go for it, parents wouldn't want me to either.. the casual pay is actually really good for fast food, I thought part time started at $8! yeah I understand, I wouldn't be picky! My sister got an interview at Gloria Jeans but she's at uni and availability was tough. If you ever get a job at GJ put in a good word for me!! haha ;) nah pretty good idea, I've legit dreamt of working as a waitress kind of thing for years haha, would love it! Good luck with all your job options in the future though Coffee (the name is so suitable to this discussion HAHA!)

That's cool, thanks, I'll check them out over summer for sure! sound like some great options as well, thank you so much! I'll be sure to check out whatever I can :)

Only June?? What school are you at now? :) haha yeah that's pretty vague, can't really understand it aha, yeah you never know, it might be! let us know what's happening with it whenever you find out.~

Has anyone applied for any University Extension programs?

ooh dearie me I didn't read that aha sorry, I'm taking all them as well but englang and bio, and I'm doing german as well. I did look at doing bio uni extension because it was one of the only ones I was qualified for and would help me (not an economics/humanities person), and I'm too bad at chem and maths aha. I also thought it would take up a lot of time, and I'm already thinking about taking up further next year as well, having completed methods this year. so yeah, I did think about it, but decided no. what subject would you consider for uni?
