Awesome! Welcome to AN. Glad you finally took the opportunity to make an account. Yep... unfortunately that's the case.... We are primarily a VCE forum (we also have HSC but this is relatively new in comparison - and still being built on), but don't let that hold you back from posting and getting involved. Just because you're in a different state doesn't mean we can't help!

Welcome! Do you mind giving us a brief comparison of SACE with VCE (If you happen to know about it?)
Like do you guys have 1 end of year exam for each subject, and sacs consist of the other 50-60%? Are the study designs similar? Etc... just so we get a grasp of your system so we can relate stuff to you

hey guys!! apologies if this sounds confusing, but how do you determine your letter grade for your unit 3 SACs? say that i got 91/100 marks in a subject for SACs in unit 3, what letter grade would this be to the the VCAA (A, B, B+, etc)? i dont mean to play the numbers game but im curious

Check out 2015's grade distributions report (and you can google previous years too).  This shows you exactly what scores equalled what letter grades for each GA in your subjects in 2015, but the scores change slightly each year based on fancy moderation and scaling and stuff.  Note, your raw SAC scores will be moderated anyway so don't expect that if you got 91/100 raw your scaled GA number will be the same.

In SA:
For Mathematics/Sciences:
Skills & Application Tasks (i.e. In-Class Tests) = ~40-45%
Folio Tasks (i.e. Practical Reports, Investigations) = ~25-30%
Exam = ~30-35%

For English Studies:
Shared Studies (Text Essays) = 30%
Individual Study (Individual Paired Text Response) = 20%
Text Production (Orals, presentations etc) = 20%
Exam = 30%

I have no idea about VCE sorry.
Spec = Highest Maths
Studies = 2nd Highest Maths
English Studies = Highest English
