Slow ping speed from optus

Hey everyone,

Since the last few days I've been getting slow ping (ie. connecting to a website or some internet activity takes a while). Download and upload wise it is normal, I have contacted Optus technical support and as always they cannot seem to find an answer. They get me to do a speed & ping test to an optus server which gives normal results, but is really slow everywhere else (doing a ping test to Google gives an average of 2000 ms ping). Restarting the modem or refreshing the connection does not help either.

Here is the ping test from speedtest.syd.optusnet.com.au (the one Optus advised me to use) and http://www.pingtest.net/. Could there be any other causes for this discrepancy?
