Hi everyone,

Call me a keen bean, but I was wondering if now is too early to begin re reading texts you are planning to study for the exam? I am definitely going to write on Capote's In Cold Blood, and probably also Kennedy's Dark Roots. We have just finished Dark Roots and the assessment for it, so work for Lit at the moment is pretty minimal. Because of this, I was thinking now would be a good time to re read In Cold Blood?

Or do you think I should wait a bit longer before I re read it? I'm just concerned that I'll leave pre exam re reads too late and won't have a good enough grasp of the ideas and I'll run out of time to write practice pieces.

Thoughts?

Never just re-read something. Re-reading is in itself useless at this stage of the year, since you invariably won't remember anything useful and what you remember won't really help you on the exam anyway.

Work on your interpretations of the novels/plays - build a stockpile of ideas and work on your ability to be able to interpret each sentence you come across in passage analysis. Work on essays and the ability to see links between the passages.

Re-read in September/October holidays only after you have done all the above.

Alternately, re-read whilst doing all of the above, which you will probably end up doing anyway. :)
