Montrack called me today and said the census date was 31st of August - but I don't think you can pick up a new unit anymore to replace it.

Dates are here: http://www.monash.edu.au/enrolments/dates/census.html

Edit: Sorry, I just realised you were a first year, so I'll explain. If you withdraw before Aug 31st (read: before census), the unit will not appear on your transcript.

Edit2: Looks like the rules have changed since I was at uni. slothmomba knows what he's talking about.

Withdraw before Monday and it's not on your transcript, withdraw after money and it will be (no financial penalties). IF you withdraw a bit later after that, you will also have to pay for your unit (Via HECs).

Read http://www.monash.edu.au/enrolments/change/add-or-discontinue-units.html in combination with the dates here http://www.monash.edu.au/enrolments/dates/census.html

I thought you had until the census date too but it seems to indicate otherwise. Not that having a single WD on your transcript is necessarily a huge black mark (or any kind of black mark at all).

I should also note that these days generally mark your centrelink liabilities (if you are receiving any payments). In particular, unless you are an unusual case, you will have to pay back the $1,000 start up scholarship if you withdraw on or before Monday. The rule is 35 days after you received it. I think they time it so everyone's uni dates coincide with it. This only matters if you will end up taking 1 or 2 subjects. 3 and 4 are fine.

Mm, yeah I think I'll just man up and stick to the unit.. I mean, what's there to say that things will be any easier in terms of workload next semester (if anything it'll just be harder lol)? Thanks for all your help though :)

Just wondering if someone could help me.

I want to discontinue a unit, so I went into WES and 'Removed' it.

Am I officially out of this unit? Or do I need some sort of confirmation. Just wondering because the cut off date is tomorrow.

WES should issue you a transaction confirmation number?
The record of the transaction should also be automatically sent to your Monash email address.

Yep, I completely forgot to press submit so I never got the email.

All good now. Thanks.

If I drop out of a unit today, will it show up as a withdrawn unit?
As in Withdraw on Monday.

It shouldn't as it says today's the last day. I'd say withdraw it before it's past the office hours or give faculty of I.T a call.

I'm studying Bachelor of Information Systems. What unit are you planning to drop if you don't mind me asking?

Awesome, I've transferred from Comp Sci. So far I like it more than Comp Sci. Hopefully you like it as well.

Did you transfer mid-year or end of semester 1?

Do you think I can drop FIT1008 and FIT1010 and only doing 2 units this semester, then pick up the 2 core units I missed by adding an extra semester and tweaking my units around?
Thanks!
